Zac Taylor said in a press conference earlier this week that he wanted A.J. Green to go through a full practice. He may soon his wish Rodney Anderson Cincinnati Bengals Jersey , as Green (ankle), veteran wideout and last hope to salvage the season, is inching his way toward a full recovery. Even though he was limited, he still went through a number of drills and is looking better by the day.Full participants in practice included Cordy Glenn, who was done serving his suspension, and William Jackson (shoulder), as well as CB Tory McTyler (shoulder). Andrew Brown (ankle) was also listed.Other than Green, fellow Pro Bowler Carlos Dunlap (knee) was promoted from DNP to limited, with offensive linemen John Miller (groin) and Andre Smith (ankle). The list of players not participating keeps getting smaller and smaller, but a few names still remain. Tyler Eifert got his usual Wednesday rest day. Carl Lawson (hamstring) is still out, and cornerbacks Darqueze Dennard (hamstring) and Dre Kirkpatrick (knee) were also.Bengals injury reportRams injury reportClay Matthews (jaw) and Malcolm Brown (ankle) were out last week against the Falcons due to an injury Rodney Anderson Jersey 2019 , and remained out for the first practice. Eric Weddle was also out, though his reason was listed as non football related. He was back at practice for Week 8.Others to make the injury report were CB Troy Hill (hamstring) and LB Bryce Hager (LB).Andrew Whitworth, who needs no introduction, was given a veteran’s day. Even in a winless season for the Bengals, Tyler Boyd’s individual performance has validated the franchise’s decision to extend him for four more years in the offseason. That extension was primarily based on his 2018 season when he helped carry an offense without A.J. Green. So it was a surprise to see the Bengals nearly win their first game of the season and Boyd have practically no role in it. He finished Sunday’s bout against the Raiders with just one reception and zero yards on three targets and 37 routes run. This was the 16th consecutive game where Boyd has had to play without Green didn’t share the field, but it was the first time he put up a goose egg in the yards column, a fact that he did not take kindly to after the game.“I feel like I’m the go-to guy with A.J. down,” Boyd told ESPN’s Bengals reporter Ben Baby. “I felt like [my] targets were not where they should have been. I feel that I’m a game-changer and I could have utilized my talents in any way to move the chains and nothing was coming my way.”For anyone that’s followed his career, they know that Boyd has never lacked bravado regarding his game. Wide receivers are often the players pegged as so-called “divas” because of the impact that they can make on the field and the fact that they ultimately can’t control when they can make that impact. And that’s all it is for Boyd: nut just putting up numbers, but making an impact.“I don’t feel like that’s an achievement that they should give me,” Boyd said. “It’s really not about stats. It’s about me wanting to make plays Color Rush Rodney Anderson Jersey , wanting them to trust me, wanting them to throw me the ball so I can help get a win.”I mean, I just feel like what’s understood doesn’t need to be explained,” Boyd continued. “I’m not the type of player that’s going to go and tell them to throw me the ball, force me the ball and get it done, regardless if that’s what’s going in my mind. But I know they see it and I know that they know I’m a reliable guy.”This was the second game where Boyd and the offense were lead by rookie quarterback Ryan Finley. For Finley to have established chemistry with all of his receivers this early on is an unfair ask, but missed opportunities are missed opportunities. When an offense’s best pass-catcher disappears for an entire game against one of the worst aerial defenses, it’s probably not all on him.“The way I’m playing, the level that I bring, I believe I get open in any 1-on-1 coverage across the board against anyone,” Boyd said. “All you gotta do is just read the defense. If he sees he has me Cheap Rodney Anderson Jersey , just gotta put it there and I’m going to make a play for him.”In retrospect, head coach Zac Taylor would probably agree with the fourth-year receiver. When asked about the offense’s startling lack of Boyd on Sunday, he provided an honest answer.“He’s certainly one of our best players, so we need to get him more involved.” Taylor said in his press conference on Monday. “As you walk away from that game, you’d like to get Tyler more involved.”The Tyler in question is just the latest example of a talented Bengals player underutilized in a disappointing offensive showing. The other Tyler, Tyler Eifert, has had under 30 receiving yards in every game but one this year. Running backs Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard have a combined 306 receiving yards on 56 combined targets, and neither one of them have had success running the ball up until recently.Boyd’s frustration is understandable, but certainly not unique when it comes to the 2019 Bengals.

Yes Los Angeles Rams Jerseys 2019 , the Los Angeles Rams got away with a flagrant foul (or two) by cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman that allowed them to sneak out of New Orleans with the NFC championship, right past the highway sign on the causeway over Lake Pontchartrain reading, “WE WERE ROBBED .”Yes, the Patriots won in Kansas City thanks to four critical calls going New England’s way in the fourth quarter, three of which were iffy: a replay reversal of Julian Edelman’s muffed punt , a phantom roughing-the-passer call on Chris Jones and Chris Hogan’s drive-sustaining one-handed catch with a little help from the ground. The fourth flag was indisputable: Dee Ford lined up in the neutral zone, negating rookie cornerback Charvarius Ward’s game-clinching interception with 55 seconds left and Kansas City ahead 28-24.“I thought the game was over,” Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen said. “And it wasn’t.”Just like the Saints did when Tommylee Lewis blatantly was interfered with inside the Los Angeles 5-yard line by Robey-Coleman, whose helmet-to-helmet hit didn’t draw the flag but will surely result in a hefty fine.“I thought it was a flag for that split second Nicholas Scott Jersey nfl draft ,” acknowledged Robey-Coleman, who was as surprised as everyone else when two officials near the play ruled it an incomplete pass on third down with 1:45 remaining in regulation and the game tied at 20.“I knew if that had been a flag, they probably would have scored on the next play,” Robey-Coleman said. The call kept the Rams close as New Orleans settled for a field goal on the next play, Greg Zuerlein tied it in regulation with a 48-yarder and won it in overtime with a 57-yarder , two field goals that likely never would have happened had Robey-Coleman been flagged for clobbering Lewis well before the ball arrived. On Monday, Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas implored NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to undo the outcome of the game , citing an NFL rule that allows for “the reversal of a game’s result or the rescheduling of a game, either from the beginning or from the point at which the extraordinary occurred.”The league has never invoked the rule to reverse a game’s outcome. The George Halas and Lamar Hunt Trophies may be smudged amid the backlash over the officiating gaffes Dante Fowler Jersey , but they aren’t entirely tarnished because strategy and execution had as much to do with the outcomes of these overtime thrillers as the yellow flags that were or weren’t thrown. The Rams (15-3) roared back from a pair of double-digit deficits to beat the Saints 26-23 in overtime because they stuck with the plan and didn’t panic after falling behind 13-0 in the first quarter and 20-10 in the third quarter. After managing just 5 yards in the first quarter when nothing went right, the Rams righted themselves thanks to a fake punt and cut New Orleans’ lead to 13-10 at halftime.“Our team demonstrated great mental toughness,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. “It was a tough start, but I thought the way (quarterback Jared Goff) played and handled the noise was outstanding.”The Rams outscored the Saints 16-3 down the stretch. The Patriots (13-5) overcame a 24-point fourth-quarter outburst fueled by Patrick Mahomes to beat the Chiefs 37-31 in overtime because Tom Brady was hardly touched, aside from Jones’ shoulder swipe that the officials thought hit him in the facemask.New England’s much-maligned offensive line didn’t allow a single sack to the Chiefs, whose 52 sacks during the regular season were tied with the Steelers for the league lead and who pummeled Andrew Luck a week earlier, sacking him three times.Brady “played great,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said for what, the 1 Replica Nicholas Scott Jersey ,000th time? “They were playing a lot of man coverage and it was either a good gain or an incompletion. … They gave us some three-man rush and there was a lot of four-man rush with Justin Houston, Chris Jones and Dee Ford. Those are tough matchups. I thought they did a good job of standing up to those guys and giving Tom a chance to deliver the ball.”In overtime, Brady, who has thrown 90 passes in the playoffs and has not been sacked a single time, converted a trio of third-and-10 pass plays on the winning touchdown drive.“Brady got rid of the ball fast,” Jones said. “We didn’t get to the quarterback like we usually do.”So the Patriots rushed for 176 yards and Brady threw for 348.By dominating the time of possession — 44 minutes to 21 minutes — Brady and the Patriots kept Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill on the sideline during most of the freezing night.“You play on the road, it is going to be tough,” Brady said. “What travels well is running the ball and playing tough. That is good in any weather Stitched Nicholas Scott Jersey , any condition, any environment and any stadium.” Could Savage be an option for the Rams on day two? The Maryland safety has a strong chance to land in the top-64 picks."With the NFL’s free agency period all-but-over, ours heads turn to the 2019 NFL Draft as we’re officially only one month away from the big day. The Los Angeles Rams seem to have interest in Maryland Terrapins’ safety prospect Darnell Savage Jr, per Jeff Zrebiec of the Athletic Baltimore:Savage is a diminutive safety at just under 5’11” and 198 lbs, though it certainly isn’t noticeable on the field. In between the white lines, Savage could be considered the toughest and most physical player on the field at all times. Savage is blazing fast (4.36 forty), has the ability to kick down into the nickel cornerback spot, can play robber, cover-two Nicholas Scott Los Angeles Rams Jerseys , or even single-high. His versatility is a massive part of his game. Not only that, but he’s a punishing tackler in the open field. To round him out as a tremendous safety prospect, his coverage ability is not lacking in any way.Savage likely wouldn’t start in 2019 as the Rams boast a really good duo at safety in John Johnson III and Eric Weddle. There is a possibility he could play sub-package LB, or big nickel in certain situations.I shared some thoughts on Savage a few weeks ago:Another reason the Rams and General Manager Les Snead could have interest in Savage? He was a senior last year at Maryland, and Snead has a long track record of taking older and more developed players (seniors) in past years.
Former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston returned to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night as a member of the Indianapolis Colts. Houston had spent eight years with the Chiefs before the club released him this past offseason. The veteran linebacker acknowledged he would have some feelings about returning to the stadium prior to the game. But when he celebrated his seemingly game-clinching tackle for loss on fourth down in the fourth quarter Khalen Saunders Jersey Cheap , nothing else needed to be said; it was easy to see Houston’s emotion as he turned to the Chiefs sideline shouting and pounding his chest.“I said some of everything; I don’t know what I said,” Houston told reporters after the game. “I was mic’d up. So, you all probably have got to check the mic on that one. I don’t even know what I was saying.”On third-and-28 with less than six minutes to go, Patrick Mahomes converted a pass to Byron Pringle for 27 yards, one yard shy of the first-down marker. Facing fourth-and-1 at the Kansas City 34 and his Chiefs trailing 16-10, Reid opted to keep the offense on the field. Mahomes handed it off to running back Damien Williams, who was tackled by Houston.“We thought we needed to go for it right there first of all,” Reid said. “Then on the backside, Justin made a nice play — he came off the backside and made the play. We need to do a better job blocking that and working through it. You give him credit. He made a nice play.”“They actually let me free Khalen Saunders Jersey Womens ,” Houston added. “Glory be to God that they put me in a position to make a play and I made it.”The Chiefs turned the ball over on downs and the Colts added another field goal to make it a two-possession game. After the eventual 19-13 Colts upset was in the books, Houston admitted there was extra motivation in the victory. “I’d be lying to say there wasn’t,” he said. “It’s like your old girlfriend. If you get a new girlfriend, you want to show her off. To come here and get a win, it means a lot to me – and to the team as well.” Houston, who had four tackles (three solo) and a sack in the game, explained that the win probably meant the most to his son, Junior. “I know he felt some type of way when the Chiefs released me,” Houston added. “For us to come here and beat them Khalen Saunders white jersey , I know it means a lot to him. So, I’m happy I could put a smile on his face.” KANSAS CITY, Mo.— The Kansas City Chiefs announced their trade with the Seattle Seahawks for pass rusher Frank Clark shortly before the start of the NFL draft on Thursday night, then confirmed that they had signed him to a lucrative and controversial long-term contract. The trade was agreed upon Tuesday, as was the $105.5 million, five-year deal, both of which became official once Clark passed his physical. The terms of the deal were told to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the team does not discuss financial details.Clark will be introduced during a news conference Friday.“We believe Frank is a premier player in this league and an elite pass rusher,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said in a statement. “In his four seasons in Seattle, he established himself as a leader in the locker room Khalen Saunders Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys , and we’re looking forward to bringing him here to help our defense.”Kansas City sent its first-round pick, the No. 29 overall selection, along with a second-rounder next year to the Seahawks. The teams also swapped third-round picks this year. That means the Chiefs do not select in the first round unless they trade back into it.It wasn’t just the draft capital that the Chiefs gave up, nor the value of the contract, that has generated headlines in Kansas City. It’s also the fact that Clark arrives with plenty of baggage — he was kicked off his team at Michigan following a domestic violence case, had another legal incident while in school and was involved in a series of less serious troubles with the Seahawks. The Chiefs have declined to discuss the background work they did on Clark, other than issuing a statement on Thursday. But the timing of the deal is particularly awkward in that it came the same week star wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s own domestic violence case returned to the spotlight. On Wednesday, a suburban Kansas City prosecutor declined to press charges after he was unable to determine whether it was Hill or his fiancee, Crystal Espinal Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys 2019 , who injured their 3-year-old son. Hill has maintained his innocence and an investigation by the Department of Children and Families is ongoing. Then on Thursday night, a local TV station aired graphic audio of Hill and Espinal in which the two of them discuss hurting their child. Espinal accused Hill of “punching” the boy in the chest and using a belt on him for discipline, and Hill warned Espinal to be afraid of him.The Chiefs and prosecutors did not respond to requests for comment on the case. The Chiefs also released star running back Kareem Hunt late last season when a video surfaced of him shoving and kicking a woman in an Ohio hotel hallway. He was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list and then signed by the Browns, though he remains suspended for the first eight games next season.Given that history, it’s likely the Chiefs weighed the optics of signing Clark to a massive deal that includes $63.5 million guaranteed against the on-field production they can expect from him.The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive end has started 33 of 62 games over four seasons in the league, blossoming into one of the NFL’s brightest young pass rushers. He’s made 131 tackles and 35 sacks with eight forced fumbles and an interception, and had a career-best 13 sacks this past season. Most importantly, Clark should fit nicely into the Chiefs’ new 4-3 defensive system. The Chiefs have been busy rebuilding their defense after a historically bad performance last season Khalen Saunders black jersey , firing longtime coordinator Bob Sutton and hiring Steve Spagnuolo as his replacement. Spagnuolo intends to move away from a 3-4 scheme — a big reason why the Chiefs have retooled their roster.Gone are longtime pass rushers Justin Houston and Dee Ford and popular safety Eric Berry. In their place, the Chiefs acquired through trades or free agency defensive ends Alex Okafor and Emmanuel Ogbah, linebacker Damien Wilson, playmaking safety Tyrann Mathieu and cornerback Bashaud Breeland. Now, they have added a 25-year-old pass rusher to the mix that could just be hitting his prime, and they are poised to make their first selection in the NFL draft on Friday night.“We’re happy to add Frank to our team,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said in a statement. “Competing against him and watching his film, you can see how physical and impressive he is in both the run and the pass game. He’s young and has consistently played at a high level since he entered the league.”
Brady took advantage when his pass catchers gave him a chance."The 2018 season was a quite successful one for the New England Patriots. After all Rob Gronkowski Jersey , the team capped it by winning its record-tying sixth Super Bowl. For quarterback Tom Brady, however, it was more of an up-and-down campaign: while he did make the plays when he needed to and was outstanding in the postseason, he started the year comparatively inconsistently — in parts because of the state of his receiving corps.New England opened the season without Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon, and the entire rhythm of the Patriots’ passing attack developed rather slowly because of it. When Edelman and Gordon were added to the mix one quarter into the year, however, Brady and the downfield aerial attack improved again. The chemistry, especially with Edelman Womens Elandon Roberts Jersey , played a huge role in that — but so did the ability of both wideouts to get open quickly.Edelman and Gordon were consistently able to find soft spots in zone coverage, and also routinely beat their opponents in man concepts. This, in turn, changed the complexity of the Patriots’ entire passing game: quick throws developed more easily, while other players such as Rob Gronkowski and rotational wide receivers Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, and Cordarrelle Patterson benefitted from the attention drawn by Edelman and Gordon. And when his receivers were able to get free — whether that be the aforementioned pass catchers, running back James White http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-devin-mccourty-jersey , or somebody else — Brady was outstanding in 2018. Advanced analytics website Pro Football Focus tracked accuracy by receiver separation all year long, and New England’s quarterback completed 78.0% of his pass attempts when his intended targets were classified as being open (i.e. having “two-plus steps of separation”).His success rate on such pass attempts tied Brady for the third-best in the NFL last year behind only the Los Angeles Chargers’ Philip Rivers (78.7%) and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (78.2%). Furthermore, a league-leading 17.6% of Brady’s pass attempts to open receivers were rated in the ‘accuracy plus’-category: passes straight into the hands of the targets and not just their general frame.Speaking of ‘accuracy plus,’ the six-time world champion was terrific all year at placing the football: in total — no matter as how open his pass catchers were evaluated by PFF — 24.4% of his passes landed right in the targets’ hands, again the best in the NFL. Brady’s ball-placement also ranked first among all qualifying quarterbacks last season when the receivers were open “up to two steps of separation:” 33.3% of Brady’s attempts in such situations earned the ‘accuracy plus’ label. In total, the 41-year-old was able to complete 67.4% of his attempts when receivers were either up to two steps from their defenders, or they were closing in. Brady ranked fourth league-wide in this category: only the New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees and the Miami Dolphins’ Ryan Tannehill (both at 71.2%) as well as Oakland Raiders passer Derek Carr (67.5%) were more successful in this evaluation category. In both ‘open’ and ‘step/closing’ situations, Brady ranked clearly above the league average and among the best in the game. The same cannot be said for ‘tight’ coverage: the greatest quarterback of all time completed fewer than 40% of his attempts when defenders were “within an arm’s length of the receiver Kevin Faulk Jersey , or in the right spot in a passing window so as to discourage the throw” — the fourteenth best number in the NFL. For comparison, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes led the league with a 56.7% success rate when his weapons were covered. What does this all tell us about Brady and the Patriots’ passing game? First, that the veteran quarterback was terrific when his receivers were able to get open in 2018 — something that improved with Edelman back from suspension and a physical X-receiver like Josh Gordon also in the lineup. And moving forward, the role Gordon played could be a key to the Patriots’ aerial success: New England added a similar receiver in round one of the draft in N’Keal Harry, and generally went for taller wideouts this offseason. When it comes to ball placement, Brady is still among the NFL’s elite, and adding Harry and company could help improve his game even further: don’t be surprised if his success in the ‘tight’ category goes up in 2019 — and if his other rates stay the same, the league better look out. Former Patriots linebacker and current ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi had a stroke on Thursday.Bruschi’s family released a statement on Friday afternoon saying that Bruschi recognized the warning signs and is doing well after receiving medical attention.“Yesterday afternoon Womens Adrian Clayborn Jersey , Tedy had a stroke, known as a TIA. He recognized his warning signs immediately: arm weakness, face drooping and speech difficulties. Tedy is recovering well, and would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for all they have done. Tedy and his family thank you for your ongoing encouragement, and kindly ask for privacy at this time.”Bruschi also had a stroke in February 2005 just after the Patriots won the Super Bowl and learned that he had a congenital heart defect that produced a hole in his heart. He had a procedure to repair that hole and sat out the start of the 2005 season before returning to play in nine games that year. He played three more seasons with the Patriots and announced his retirement just before the start of the 2009 season.Everyone at wishes Bruschi a complete recovery.
Raiders receiver Antonio Brown has lost again. And he has won. Again.Per a source with knowledge of the situation Womens Derek Carr Jersey , the “neutral, independent arbitrator” has found that Brown must find a new helmet model, and that he can not wear the Schutt AiR Advantage. It’s the second time Brown has lost a helmet grievance in less than two weeks.Brown will accept the decision and move forward in a new helmet. He has narrowed his options, after hearing from multiple companies that wanted to customize a helmet, and that want to pay him to wear it. Thus, on top of the $30 million he’ll make over the next two seasons with the Raiders, he’ll get something more from a helmet manufacturer. So stay tuned. Brown has every intention of playing in 15 days on the first Monday night of the season, and he’ll be wearing something other than the Schutt AiR Advantage. Though the new manufacturer may not get as much bang for the buck that Schutt has enjoyed over the past 16 days, at least the next helmet model attached to Brown’s name won’t be one that has been discontinued. Going all seven rounds just for the Raiders. And there will be trades."Last week I put out my one and only 2-round NFL mock draft of the year. Now with the draft just a day away, it’s time for my Raiders 7-round mock draft. This one will have a few trades as well, just as I suspect the Raiders will be doing in the draft.Round 1, pick 15* – Clelin Ferrell, ED, Clemson*Trade down from pick 4 with Washington. Add picks 46, 96, 2020 selectionMost likely if they are going to get Ferrell, it’s either with a trade down or a trade up to around the middle of the first round. Here I go with the former which also allows them to add more picks in this draft while still getting one of the draft’s top pass rushers. Ferrell is ideal for Paul Guenther’s defense.Round 1, pick 24 – Noah Fant, TE, IowaThe perfect replacement for the departed Jared Cook. Fant is one of two sure first round tight ends in this class along with his Iowa teammate TJ Hockenson. Getting him at the bottom part of the first round is a great value and fills a major need for the Raiders. Round 1, pick 27 – Marquise Brown, WR, OklahomaI see a decent chance they trade out of this spot as well, but should they stay, Hollywood Brown would be a tremendous get late in the first round. It’s also fitting this is the selection they got in the Amari Cooper trade, because Brown has the potential to be an upgrade over what Coop brought to the Raiders while being at least four years away from a new contract. Hollywood can play the slot early on and move outside at any point in the future.Round 2, pick 35 – Jaylon Ferguson, ED, Louisiana TechThat’s right Antonio Brown Raiders Jersey , a second pass rusher. For a team with the NFL’s worst pass rush last season by a wide margin and just recent addition Benson Mayowa as the lone somewhat proven NFL edge rusher on the team, it makes sense to double up on edge rushers high in this draft. Or at least it does when a guy with 17.5 sacks and 26.0 tackles for loss is on the board.Round 2, pick 46 – David Montgomery, RB, Iowa StYes, I realize I have the Raiders taking offense three times in their first five picks. But they also upgrade their pass rush twice, so what more do you want? A linebacker? Nah, Gruden is running the show and he wants offense. Montgomery is a complete back who would be a tremendous get to go along with Isaiah Crowell. Round 3, pick 81* – Connor McGovern, G, Penn State*Trade pick 96, 140, 235 to MinnesotaThey move up in the third round from 96 to 81 to get McGovern, packaging a couple lower picks in the deal. In McGovern the Raiders get their guard to replace Kelechi Osemele who was traded to the Jets along with a sixth round pick to acquire this pick.Round 4, pick 106 – Marquise Blair, S, UtahBlair is a great get at the top of the fourth. He is outstanding in coverage and has good size too at 6-1, 195 pounds. Yeah, he could stand to add a little bulk, but he has the frame for it. He isn’t shy against the run, so he could line up at either safety spot in Guenther’s scheme.Round 7, pick 218 – Gary Johnson, LB, TexasJohnson barely left the field last season for the Longhorns, putting up 64 tackles, 16.5 for a loss and 6.5 sacks. He was outstanding in coverage, seeing very few targets in coverage (20) though he gave up a catch on 17 of those. None of those was for a touchdown. Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has worked hard to become an NFL star http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-tashaun-gipson-jersey , but his struggle is nothing compared to his mother’s.Now, her chance to be in the spotlight is coming.According to Justin Kroll of Variety.com, BRON Studios is making a movie out of the story of Hopkins’ mother, Sabrina Greenlee.Greenlee was blinded in 2002 during an attack from a woman she said was seeing her boyfriend. She has discussed her abusive relationships in the past, and Hopkins has raised money throughout his career for domestic violence causes.“My mom has always put everyone before herself and sacrificed things unimaginable,” Hopkins said. “Now it’s time for people to see her true value and learn that giving up is not an option.”Greenlee raised her four children, including Hopkins, and Aaron Gilbert of BRON Studios said: “BRON prides itself on telling real Jon Weeks Jersey White , human stories that highlight the strength of spirit. When I heard the story of this extraordinary woman and her incredible family, we had to get involved.”The film is in the development stages now. There’s not a list to put him on DeShawn Shead Jersey White , but Lions coach Matt Patricia isn’t physically ready for training camp.Via Dave Birkett of the , Patricia was on a scooter early Thursday after having surgery on his left foot recently.“Really just there’s very few times during the year where we have an opportunity to go in and kind of get things done so just pretty much been dealing with a little bit of a lower leg issue and a muscle thing, bone thing for a while,” Patricia said. “So kind of had that cleaned up. Just trying to stay off it here for a couple days, so day by day and we’ll go from there.”Patricia was wearing a cast, and when they took the practice field later in the morning, he was on a golf cart.“I’m really trying to be careful with it so that I don’t have any setbacks from that standpoint,” he said. “So probably a little bit overcautious, when I can be, as opposed to, it’s a long season.”That means half of the NFC North’s coaches are limited in terms of mobility, after Packers coach Matt LaFleur tore his Achilles playing basketball this offseason. Darius Slay wants an extension now, and it makes complete sense for him to seek that new deal."With news that Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay is sitting out Organized Team Activities and likely seeking a new contract, the response has been predictable. Many fans are upset that Slay isn’t being a “team player,” while others are panicking that the Lions need to do everything they can just to keep him around. And while the timing certainly isn’t convenient for the Lions—they’re coming off a rough year, just spent a ton of money in free agency that may tie up a lot of money down the road, and Slay still has a few years left on his contract—this actually isn’t all that complicated.Darius Slay has every right to fight for a new contract Marvin Jones Jr Jersey White , and the Lions should seriously consider getting a new deal done as soon as possible. Let’s break down why.“Just honor your contract”Perhaps the most common complaint I’ve heard about Slay—or any other player wanting an extension/restructure—is that they signed the deal a few years ago and need to honor it. This is easily the laziest argument made by fans, as it has no scope on how NFL contracts work. How often have we heard about teams asking a player to take a restructure? How often have we’ve seen players become cap casualties because they were unwilling to restructure that deal? This is just players using that same leverage. Instead of “take a paycut or find a job elsewhere” players are simply saying the opposite: “pay me more, or I’ll find a job somewhere else.”This is how leverage works in NFL contract negotiations. No side is right or immoral or ungrateful. This is simply each side doing what’s best for them.No holdout yetNow, in Slay’s case, let’s be clear. He hasn’t threatened to play anywhere else or sit out a year or anything like that. He’s only missed voluntary workouts and OTAs. Again, this is something that has become so pervasive that it’s just how negotiations work in this league, and both players and coaches know it’s not that big of a deal at this point in the offseason. Here’s Matt Patricia on Slay and Daman Harrison Sr. missing Week 1 of OTAs:“Back in the day, I’ve had other great players, really great ones on my defenses before—just whatever the situation was, they have other offseason routines that are agreed, or talked about, or kind of just gone through, so everybody’s on the same page with all that stuff,” Patricia said.Yes, veteran players like Slay and Harrison are still working hard. Yes, they’re still working out. Yes, they fully intend on playing this year. They’re just not working out with the team right now http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-ricky-wagner-jersey , and in a lot of cases, they’ve already made agreements with the team. No drama here. “He’s already getting paid so much”In the case of Slay, an argument could be made he’s getting his worth. Looking at 2019 cap hits among NFL cornerbacks, and Darius Slay ranks.... wow, first. What is he even complaining about?Well, cap hit isn’t exactly a practical way to look at it from the players’ point of view. Slay isn’t just being handed a paycheck for his $15,934,375 cap hit—that number just represents how he fits in the Lions’ budget. That’s the team’s point of view. For Slay, his annual salaries for 2019 and 2020 are $12.55 million and $10 million, which ranksecond and 12th respectively. That’s a clearer picture of the money Slay will actually be seeing over the next few seasons, and while those aren’t exactly bad figures for a Pro Bowl cornerback, should he actually be earning less than the likes of Janoris Jenkins and Desmond Trufant, who have a combined seven interceptions over the past two years (Slay has 11?Look at the newest contracts signed by NFL cornerbacks. Xavier Rhodes got a five-year deal worth an average salary of $14 million. Xavien Howard got a five-year deal for an average of $15.05 million. That’s obviously the range Slay is looking for, and he’s arguably worth it.Why this year?Slay has two remaining years, and it’s commonly thought that player negotiations should take place the year before the player becomes a free agent. So why now? Well, part of it may have to do with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The current CBA is set to expire in 2020, and while current talks between the NFL and NFL Players association are currently optimistic Will Harris Detroit Lions Jersey , that could change at any moment. With next year being the crucial year towards either an agreement or a strike, the future of NFL contracts is unclear. The players will likely push for fully-guaranteed contracts—which Slay has publicly said he wants—but it’s highly unlikely they’ll ever get that. By getting a big extension this year, Slay would be securing his future in an uncertain time. And for cornerbacks, it’s important to get paid while you can. Top-tier cornerback very rarely get two big extensions during their NFL careers. How many times have you heard the term “wrong side of 30?” Well, Slay is currently 28. He’s nearing that edge.Just look around the league right now. All of the best cornerbacks in the league have yet to receive that lucrative second extension. Aqib Talib: Still playing on his six-year extension from 2014. Josh Norman: working off his 2016 five-year deal. Even a guy like Richard Sherman didn’t really get to cash in on his third contract (although being his own agent didn’t help). His three-year deal with the 49ers puts him at an average salary of $9.05 million (20th), granted there was a significant injury risk there. The most recent example of a cornerback who cashed in twice after their rookie deal was Darrelle Revis. After signing a six-year, $96 million deal with the Buccaneers, he signed a five-year $70 million contract with the Jets (with a one-year, $12 million deal in New England in the middle).Only one problem: he ended up playing a collective three seasons for those teams. Yep, he never saw a huge portion of those deals. So goes the life of a late-20s, early 30s cornerback. By heading back to the negotiating table now, Darius Slay is giving himself one last shot at a big extension that he could actually play out in Detroit. There is certainly a big risk from the Lions’ standpoint. Handing over another big contract to player who has likely peaked is dangerous business dealing for an NFL GM. But an extension now for Detroit makes a lot more sense than potentially waiting another year for Slay to get 365 days closer to that cornerback age drop off. Not to mention, the price is only going to get higher the longer you wait. If you’re Lions general manager Bob Quinn, you’re probably thinking either get a deal done now, or let him hit the market at the end of his current contract.
CINCINNATI (AP)John Ross got up to top speed Tyler Eifert Jersey , ran past a defender and caught Andy Dalton’s long pass in stride, drawing an ovation from the approximately 950 fans watching the first practice of Bengals camp.A day later, he made another impressive catch on a deep throw and heard more applause.Fans haven’t seen any of this since the Bengals made him their first overall pick last year. The speedy receiver from Washington expected to show his big-play ability during his first season in Cincinnati. Instead, he missed most of camp while recovering from shoulder surgery and wound up playing in only three games. He didn’t catch a pass and fumbled on a reverse – the only time he got the ball – before another shoulder injury ended his season. As debuts go, it was about as bad as it gets. He was playing catch-up from the start because of his injury, and every mistake got magnified.”It was everything,” Ross said. ”When one thing went wrong, six things went wrong. Not to make excuses Carlos Dunlap Jersey , but it was so much more than me making one mistake on the field. I think it kind of beat me up mentally and took me away from my game.”The Bengals are trying to dig out of one of the worst seasons offensively in franchise history. They finished last in the league in yards in 2017, a franchise first. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor was given wide latitude to overhaul the playbook. The offensive line has been revamped. Coach Marvin Lewis has said repeatedly that the offense needs to have more big plays this season, the kind they thought Ross would provide when they took him with the ninth overall pick in the draft.Ross ran a record time of 4.22 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, and the Bengals envisioned him providing another deep threat to A.J. Green. Instead, Ross barely got on the field. He’s been healthy and making a good impression.”I’ve kind of showed that I can relax and play the game I’m used to playing,” Ross said. ”Mentally, that was the toughest challenge for me last year. Being hurt kind of messed with me throughout the whole year. When you’re beat mentally, I don’t think you can really be yourself.”Ross was still recovering from shoulder surgery when camp opened in 2017 and wasn’t cleared to practice at the outset. He wound up playing in only two preseason games and making one catch for 6 yards Dre Kirkpatrick Jersey , his total contribution to the passing game last year. He’s already way ahead of last year.”John Ross has done things this offseason we saw at the University of Washington,” said Duke Tobin, director of player personnel. ”We’re looking for him to take the next step.”EIFERT BACK: Tight end Tyler Eifert was cleared to practice on Monday after working out on a side field the first four days of camp. Eifert was limited to two games last season before more back problems required another surgical procedure. He signed a one-year contract loaded with incentives.Eifert mostly worked out with the backups on Monday. He made a couple of diving plays late in practice, drawing applause from fans.”I could understand how it would be frustrating as fans, hearing, `Oh, he’s on (injury) list again or whatever,”’ Eifert said. ”But trust me Billy Price Jersey , it’s 100 times more frustrating for me because all I want to do is be out there, and I’m doing literally everything I can, spending all my time trying to get back out there and stay out there with the guys.”H-back Ryan Hewitt also was cleared to join practice, leaving only linebacker Vontaze Burfict yet to get approval to practice. Burfict is suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancers.— Zac Taylor is wasting no time in finding who will be on his staff with the Bengals. Not long after Taylor was hired as the team’s next coach, Field Yates of ESPN reported that Houston Cougars tight ends coach James Casey was joining Taylor’s staff. The team is also hiring Ben Martin, an offensive line coach from Bryant University. Casey is someone you may be familiar with, as he enjoyed a productive career with the Houston Texans from 2009-12, then with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2013-14. He ended his career following a one-year stint with the Denver Broncos in 2015. For his career Jessie Bates Jersey , Casey hauled in 72catches for 842yards and six scores. Since then, Casey has been the tight ends coach for the Cougars. As for Martin, he’s had coaching stints at Union (NY) College, Bryant University, and was even an offensive assistant with the Miami Dolphins from 2014-15, which means he coached briefly along Taylor when he was also in Miami. Martin spent the 2013 season as the offensive line/run game coordinator at Wagner College and the 2012 season as the running backs coach at Princeton University.
There was a time when Miami Dolphins receiver Kenny Stills was bothered by the backlash over his decision to kneel on the sideline during the national anthem Football Isaiah Prince Jersey , his way of following Colin Kaepernick’s lead and protesting social injustice. He is no longer worried. If anything, his resolve got stronger.“We’re not going anywhere,” Stills said.Stills was one of two players who kneeled for the anthem in Week 1 around the NFL. Fellow Dolphins receiver Albert Wilson was the other. League-wide, only about 10 players participated in any form of protests. On Thursday, two days removed from meeting with veterans on Sept. 11 and getting lauded by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, Stills insisted that his pregame statements are not going away.“It’s not going to change,” Stills said. “Activism isn’t something you just kind of get involved in and then turn your back on it. Once your eyes are open to some of the things that are happening, you continue to work and try to grow and create change for the rest of your life. The Dolphins’ policy and all NFL punishments for protests were put on hold as the league and union negotiate.Dolphins coach Adam Gase chose the captains for this year’s team already, and Stills — just as he was last season — is one. It’s a clear sign that Gase has no problems with Stills’ stance Isaiah Prince Jersey nfl draft , or his leadership capability.“I think he’s been the most productive slot receiver the last two years in the NFL,” Gase said. “That’s nothing new to us.”Stills met with reporters for about 10 minutes Thursday. There was one question about his two touchdown catches against Tennessee in Miami’s 27-20 victory. The rest of the session revolved almost entirely around kneeling, not catchingStills went to Miami-area VA Hospitals on Tuesday , along with Wilson and a few other members of the Dolphins organization. Some of the patients were moved to tears, and Stills said he spoke with several veterans privately — most of them understanding where his protests are coming from and what they are about.“This has never been against the military or the flag or the police,” Stills said. “And so just for them to have the opportunity, for us to have the conversation, for them to approach me and say that, that meant a bunch.”There are some, however — most notably, President Donald Trump — who insist on describing the kneeling and other similar actions, such as Oakland’s Marshawn Lynch staying seated for the anthem Chandler Cox Miami Dolphins Jerseys , as a protest of the flag.Trump retweeted a photo on Sunday that showed Stills and Wilson kneeling as the anthem played. In a separate tweet, Trump said NFL television ratings are declining and wrote that if “the players stood proudly for our Flag and Anthem, and it is all shown on broadcast, maybe ratings could come back? Otherwise worse!”Rubio, R-Florida, took to Twitter this week to applaud Stills .“You don’t have to agree with how or why he has chosen to exercise the 1st Amendment before every game to acknowledge the hours he gives voluntarily, on his day off, to serve his fellow Americans,” Rubio tweeted.Stills said he understands the backlash is not going to stop.“It’s not about being the face or who gets the notoriety for it,” Stills said. “It’s just what I care about outside of work and what I spend my time doing when I’m not here working for the Dolphins.”Stills first kneeled during the anthem in 2016 and has been vocal discussing racial inequality and other issues. The player protests — started by Kaepernick, who has not played in the NFL since that season — have become a divisive topic. The debate was refueled earlier this month, when Nike made Kaepernick one of the faces of Nike’s 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign .Kaepernick lauded Stills and Wilson for kneeling last weekend. Stills said he would like to see more players protest.“Obviously Miami Dolphins Jerseys 2019 , we’d be encouraged to see more guys participating in the protest, but I understand that everyone makes their own decisions,” Stills said. “I’ll continue doing what I’m doing. With a second straight division title in hand Darrell Henderson Los Angeles Rams Jerseys , Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams would love to grab a few more prizes.Another one is there for the taking. The NFC West champion Rams look to clinch a first-round playoff bye when they visit the NFC North-leading Chicago Bears in a prime-time matchup Sunday.“You obviously want to win as many games as you can,” Goff said. “But if you do, it will lead to those types of rewards, and the first one we’ve done is win the division. Hopefully we can win a few more now or however many it takes to get the first-round bye and hopefully work toward the first seed.”The Rams (11-1) clinched their second straight division championship and became the first team to secure a playoff spot with their 30-16 victory at Detroit last week. It’s quite an accomplishment for a franchise that endured 13 seasons without a winning record after capturing the NFC West in 2003.It’s the first division repeat for the Rams since a run of seven straight first-place finishes ended in 1979. And besides securing a first-round bye on Sunday, Los Angeles has a chance to move closer to home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, with a one-game lead over New Orleans, which has beaten the Rams.Chicago (8-4) won five straight prior to a wild overtime loss at the New York Giants last week. The Bears wiped out a 10-point deficit in the final 1:13 of regulation, only to lose when Janoris Jenkins knocked away a deep pass by Chase Daniel after Aldrick Rosas kicked a 44-yard field goal.Daniels likely won’t be at quarterback this week. Mitchell Trubisky expects to return after missing the past two games because of a right shoulder injury. Here are some things to know as the Rams and Bears get ready to meet:ROADMAPSThe two teams appear to be following similar paths, with prized quarterbacks and big leaps under offense-minded coaches. The Rams drafted Goff with the No. 1 overall pick in 2016, hired coach Sean McVay to get the most out of him prior to last season, and took off from there, winning the division out of nowhere.Chicago drafted Trubisky with the second overall pick in 2017 and hired Matt Nagy prior to this season to get the most out of the prized QB. Though the Bears expected to be better after four straight last-place finishes Los Angeles Rams Jerseys 2019 , a rather commanding division lead seemed like a stretch.Trubisky has taken some big strides after a shaky rookie season — like Goff, who made the Pro Bowl last year. And a prime-time win over the team with the best record in the NFL wouldn’t hurt his stock.“We know we have a great opponent coming in this weekend. … And I’m just eager and excited to get back out there with my guys and play the game,” Trubisky said.RUNNING RAMSTodd Gurley is already the NFL’s leading rusher and its top-scoring non-kicker with 19 touchdowns, but the Rams might need to rely on their superstar running back even more than usual. His backup, Malcolm Brown, is out for the season after injuring his collarbone last week. Depth running backs Justin Davis and John Kelly have little regular-season experience, but both seem confident in their ability to contribute — and Kelly is a Detroit native who won’t mind the cold Chicago weather.EXPECTED BACKTrubisky hasn’t played since a win over Minnesota on Nov. 18. He was hurt sliding in the closing minutes, when the Vikings’ Harrison Smith hit him on the left side. That resulted in his right shoulder getting driven into the ground.Assuming he starts Sunday, Trubisky will have to contend with Aaron Donald, who leads the league with 16 1/2 sacks.“You look at (Donald) and you wonder how he can weigh as much as he weighs (280 pounds) and be as quick as he is,” Nagy said. “He’s really extremely quick. He’s savvy in regards to the different types of moves that he has. He’s got power.”THROW IT OUTGoff is coming off one of his least impressive games in a standout season. He went 17 of 33 for just 207 yards and one touchdown at Detroit. Goff also threw an interception and was sacked twice. He’s facing a daunting task going against Khalil Mack and a defense with a league-leading 21 interceptions. “We’ve got to be ready to go,” McVay said. “This is one of the best defenses in the league and you see it show up on the tape.”RUN DOWNThough the Bears rank second against the run Darrell Henderson black jersey , they’ve had trouble stopping it the past two games.New York’s Saquon Barkley carried 24 times for 125 yards. And in a Thanksgiving victory at Detroit, Chicago gave up 85 yards rushing in the second half. On both sides of the ball, we still got a ways to go, so we’ve got to keep competing against each other and getting ourselves better. Every day, I see improvement on the defensive side, and that becomes important. Because it’s new, you’re going to see some things there—some steps forward. So I appreciate that.”Last week, wide receiver Sammy Watkins explained that this year, the defense is making the offense think a bit more. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes told the media Friday about how great the defense has been at disguising its coverages. Running back Carlos Hyde complimented its ability to blitz on Saturday.“The defense has been doing a good job with their blitzing Tyrann Mathieu Jersey ,” Hyde said. “We had to make some adjustments to that because they were getting us at one point. And also their coverage. They’ve been making plays. You see some guys getting interceptions and stuff, so they’ve been making plays. That stuff will carry on to the regular season, and that s— going to come up huge because one game we going to need them interceptions.”Thornhill provided just that on Saturday, when he tracked an apparent Patrick Mahomes miscue down in 11-on-11s for a pick.“We got to see him play corner and safety in college,” Reid said of the 23-year-old safety. “He did a little bit of each. The one consistency was that he made plays at both spots. He’s doing that out here. Early on, he was getting his hands on the ball, but he wasn’t getting the picks. Now he’s making the picks.”Another player who has seemed reinvigorated in Steve Spagnuolo’s new system is Hitchens, who said the Chiefs are asking to learn every linebacker position headed into the fall.“It starts with Spags,” Hitchens said. “I’m sure you guys (the media) interviewed him a couple of times. He has a lot of energy, and it feeds off this coaching staff all the way to the players. We needed that, and I’m just glad he’s part of our defensive staff.”Hitchens profiles as the WILL linebacker in Spagnuolo’s 4-3 base and should stay on the field as the MIKE in nickel and dime subpackages.“Hitch brings great energy,” Reid added. “Every play every day, and he’s smart. He leads the middle of the defense right there. That’s what he does.” Derrick Johnson vibesWilson played with Hitchens from 2015-17 as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Wilson, who the Chiefs like as their SAM http://www.chiefslockerroom.com/authentic-anthony-sherman-jersey , hits noticeably hard in thud and tackle periods and continually pokes and rips at opposing running backs. “He and Anthony are close from being in Dallas together,” Reid said of Wilson. “He is extremely smart. He doesn’t make very many mistakes out here. He’s a very accurate player.”Wilson stripped tight end Nick Keizer on Friday before missing practice Saturday due to a sore knee.“That guy is out here forcing fumbles and interceptions every day,” Hitchens said. “He’s a good ballplayer. He’s going to help us win a lot of games this year, and all I could do here is just be a bigger brother and help him out in the scheme and everything.”Hitchens explained that because of the newfound energy as a defensive unit, the players are running a bit more now. He joked that he is losing “10 pounds a day” when the Chiefs hold a padded practice.“It’s just more energy, more running, more plays,” he said. “It’s just different... It’s 2019. Our goal is to be great and bring some energy and run to the ball, so that’s what we’re doing, and it’s going to burn a lot of calories and a lot of energy.”The Chiefs’ efforts over the past week and the next four will, of course, lead into Week 1 away against the Jacksonville Jaguars. And while all the talk of energy is nice, grasping the new system will be of utmost importance. Spagnuolo is thus approaching all his ambition with caution.“It’s something that I have to make a real hard decision on,” he said this week. “I’ve been through this first year thing a number of times. Sometimes it’s gone really good and sometimes it hasn’t gone so good Womens Harrison Butker Jersey , so it’ll be dictated by what the guys can do. I do believe that as you approach this thing, you better make sure they’re not thinking and they’re playing, if that makes any sense. I’m hoping that we got the kind of guys that can handle multiple defensive packages and still play fast, but we’ll see.” “It’s a lot of challenges, but at the end of the day we got to get it done,” Hitchens added. “If we want to win, we’ve got to get it done. There’s other teams in the league that are going through the same thing. “No one’s going to feel sorry for us on Week 1, so we got to find a way to get it done, and that’s what we’re trying to do.” Observations (via defensive film analyst Craig Stout, who attended practice)Defensive line coach Brendan Daly wastes zero time in camp. He’s always looking to get a little extra work in off to the side and makes sure every single player gets each rep correct. He’s very hands-on with the position group and very vocal with criticism and praise alike. It’s refreshing to see this year.Frank Clark has also adopted this mindset, regularly pulling others in his position group aside to teach technique. Alex Okafor was asking Clark for help on a pull/rip move, and that prompted rookie Khalen Saunders to come over and ask for help as well. Clark was happy to oblige, and he’s already showing his presence as a leader. On the field, the defense won the day. Okafor Daniel Sorensen Jersey , Clark, and Juan Thornhill all looked particularly great. Clark and Okafor racked up several would-be sacks in the team portion of practice, and both set the edge well in the run game. Thornhill had a great pass break-up in the back of the end zone on Mecole Hardman as well as an interception off of Patrick Mahomes.Speaking of defense, the linebackers had another good day stuffing the run. With Damien Wilson out, Reggie Ragland moved to the base SAM linebacker and Ben Niemann came in as the MIKE linebacker. Ragland and Anthony Hitchens are playing faster and getting downhill quickly. Ragland even had an interception off of Mahomes in team drills.Nick Allegretti continued to get looks with the second-team offensive line today, this time at right guard. He’s seeing plenty of time at multiple spots and holding his own.For the second day in a row, Carlos Hyde and Travis Kelce had multiple drops. Kelce improved as the day went along, but on a day in which the defense had their number, those drops were a little bit deflating.Injury reportWide receiver Mecole Hardman and defensive lineman Xavier Williams returned to the field after missing time on Friday. Linebacker Damien Wilson missed practice due to a sore knee. Check out our full injury report here.Tweets of noteQuote of the dayCarlos Hyde on how he feels about his offensive teammates: “Everybody comes out every day to compete. The receivers, they bust they ass, the running backs bust they ass, the tight ends. Everybody’s working. It’s not just one guy, which is good. The whole offense out here working together, coming out here every day http://www.chiefslockerroom.com/authentic-terrance-smith-jersey , competing and trying to get better, so the whole offense has been standing out to me.”What’s next? The Chiefs resume practice Sunday in St. Joseph at 8:15 a.m. Arrowhead Time. Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will speak to the media and the full team will sign autographs after practice. The next scheduled day off for the Chiefs is Tuesday. Falcons coach Dan Quinn cleared out all his coordinators this offseason, and will call his own defense. But he added some experience to his staff Monday. The team announced the addition of former Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton as a senior assistant. According to the team’s release, he will assist Quinn with “in-game strategy, clock management, time-out usage and replay review.”The Falcons were going to use former assistant offensive line coach (and Rutgers head coach) Kyle Flood in that role before he left for Alabama. Sutton’s a former head coach at Army.鈥淐alling the defense, spending the extra time to get that right, and making sure our style and identity come across in the right way are exciting challenges,鈥?Quinn said. 鈥淎dding someone with Bob鈥檚 knowledge and experience to assist with clock and game-management strategies will help us be the best version of the Falcons that we can be in 2019.鈥滺aving someone to help with those areas is catching on, as more coaches realize the game is moving at a pace which makes it hard for one guy to process all the information in real time.Sutton was the Chiefs coordinator for six years, but was offered up after this season, and replaced with Steve Spagnuolo.
The Patriots were clear with Demaryius Thomas when they cut him in August that the plan was to bring him back. And they did just that. But the veteran wide receiver said he was surprised when they traded him to the Jets eight days later White Dont’a Hightower Jersey , startled to realize that the most business-like team in the league turned him into just another piece of business.“It was insulting, for sure,” Thomas told Manish Mehta of the . “Once I got cut, I could have just come here (to the Jets) and not stayed there and re-sign. When they re-signed me, I was thinking that I was good. Two weeks later, I was gone. So, it’s like, ‘Why did I waste my time?’ Because at the end of the day, it was kind of a waste of time for me.”The short answer was Dont’a Hightower Jersey 2019 , the Patriots thought they were trading up, when they were able to get their hands on Antonio Brown. Of course, that didn’t work, and Thomas seems happy to be with the Jets now. He said he enjoyed his time with the Patriots this offseason, as he recovered from last year’s torn Achilles.“They took a chance to bring me in and helped me get healthy,” Thomas said. “I always knew I was going to be able to still play . . . and it would have worked out because I was still learning their offense. Josh McDaniels drafted me [in Denver]. So, I felt like I was cool. But even having conversations with him and couple other people, it was like, ‘You’re going to be okay.’ Two weeks later White Donald Trump Jerseys , AB gets cut . . . and then they kicked me [to the curb] and shipped me out like I’m just a rookie.”While he wasn’t angry with the way the deal went down, Thomas did say he felt it was “disrespectful” to trade him so shortly after he re-signed.“Coach [Belichick] came up to me and was like, ‘Uh, we got too many guys. We can’t get the ball around enough and we’re going to trade you to the Jets,’” Thomas said. “And that was that. . . . Ain’t no reason to yell. They’ve won championships without me. I was only trying to be a part of something that was going to be good when I was there. . . . They’re doing a hell of a job.”Thomas has settled in with another familiar former coach in Adam Gase, and learned that in New England, no particular player is special. ATLANTA (AP) — Tom Brady quickly made it clear that winning a record sixth Super Bowl title won’t change his mind about playing at least another year.As long as No. 12 is still going, New England’s dynasty won’t crumble.“Doesn’t change anything,” Brady said moments after the Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 on Sunday . “I can’t wait to spend some time with my family Donald Trump Jerseys 2019 , my kids and my wife. Couldn’t do it without their support. It’s been a great year.”The Patriots have long defied odds and continue rewriting history by sustaining their success for two decades. Brady and coach Bill Belichick are 6-3 in Super Bowls since 2001. They have won 10 straight AFC East titles and reached eight conference titles games in a row. They’ve posted a winning record in 18 consecutive seasons, reaching the playoffs 16 times, winning 16 division titles and nine AFC championships. It’s an unprecedented run, and they’re not done yet.The Patriots were counted out in 2014 after a 41-14 loss to Kansas City on Monday Night Football dropped their record to 2-2. All they’ve done since is win three of the last five Super Bowls. Each time it appears they may be slipping, the Patriots come back strong and find a way to overcome any turmoil.Belichick and Brady were supposedly at odds last year and their relationship was reportedly nearing a breaking point. One of the first people to embrace Brady after the game was Belichick, wrapping his arms around his quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman amid a sea of confetti and a swarm of cameras.“Coach makes it a challenging football environment, the pressure is always on, and for moments like this, you have to rise to the occasion White Stephen Gostkowski Jerseys ,” Brady said.Brady hasn’t wavered from his stated desire to play until he’s 45. He was ordinary much of the game against the Rams but delivered in the clutch in the fourth quarter . Overall, he had an excellent season at age 41 and was spectacular in the conference title win at Kansas City.Brady shows little sign of slowing down thanks to his rigorous training schedule and nutrition program. And thanks to a great team Belichick re-assembles around him each season, Brady doesn’t have to win every game with his arm.The Patriots reinvented themselves this season, adding a downhill running game that gave the offense more balance. Rookie Sony Michel ran for 931 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season, and 336 yards and six more TDs in the playoffs. He can be even better next season.“I’m so proud of him,” Patriots center David Andrews said of his fellow Georgia Bulldog Michel. “He faced a lot of adversity at the beginning with an injury, and he battled through people calling him a bust. And I knew when he got a shot, he’d cut it loose. We started finding our identity throughout the year.”Then the defense dominated in the biggest game, holding the league’s second-highest scoring offense to only a field goal.“I don’t think we care about what people had to say Stephen Gostkowski Jerseys 2019 ,” cornerback Jason McCourty said. “We just knew what we were capable of, and we still had a chance to win the Super Bowl. It doesn’t matter how many people doubted us.”It’s possible the Patriots may lose one of their key players if four-time All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski decides to retire. Gronkowski, who had a 29-yard catch to set up Michel’s TD run, isn’t certain of his future.“I haven’t thought about that,” he said. “That’ll be decided in a few weeks or so.”The Patriots can stock up on talent in the upcoming draft. They have 12 picks, including six in the first three rounds. And they have a history of making key free agent signings and trading for veterans who play key roles.“We have a lot of great people in the organization,” Belichick said. “It starts at the top with (owner) Robert (Kraft) and his family. He’s given us great support in all the things we need to do to be competitive.”
Tuesday night’s probably won’t even scratch the surface as to the events of the past week regarding Antonio Brown‘s fight with the NFL over his helmet of choice. Monday’s #PFTPM does. For as misguided as his grievance regarding the question of whether he should be permitted to wear a more-than-10-year-old helmet was Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , Brown now has a viable argument that the NFL is moving the goalposts, either to cover up its past failure to properly test the Schutt AiR Advantage helmet or to prevent Brown from #winning in his effort to wear the helmet of his choice, or both.Ultimately, Brown could (and should) file another grievance. And there’s a chance he’ll win. If you strenuously object to that sentiment Bo Jackson Jersey , set aside your pre-existing biases and listen to the latest edition of our afternoon podcast, a far looser production that includes periodic profanity and hopefully fulfills our broader objective to inform and entertain on all matters related to the NFL. We ask a Clemson writerJohn David Mercer-USA TODAY SportsTwo questions came to mind about Hunter Renfrow with regard to the draft; How did he last until the 5th round and how is it the Patriots didn’t get him before the Raiders could? Not only does he seem like the ideal slot receiver, but he seems like he has Patriot written all over him. Though when I spoke with Ryan Kantor of SB Nation’s Clemson blog Shakin’ the Southland https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey , he disagreed that Renfrow was destined to be a Patriot. On possible reason he didn’t end up in New England was they may have had him pegged for the fifth round and the Raiders traded up to ensure they couldn’t get him. The Patriots made a flurry of trades in the draft, giving them plenty of ammunition to trade up and get Renfrow in the fifth round if they wanted to do that. They ended up trading up twice late in the draft into the bottom of the 5th round. One thing that seemed strange to me was the difference between his red zone prowess and his production as well as not being drafted until the 5th round. I asked Kantor if Renfrow’s low numbers (545 yards, 1 TD) last season might have had more to do with him not being utilized properly or enough.Follow @LeviDamien
The second-year receiver should be a vital weapon."The Houston Texans are shallow at several positions. Most of all Shane Lechler Jersey White , the offensive line and cornerbacks are thinner than flatbread pizza. One position that they will not have to worry about is wide receiver.Nobody needs an explanation on DeAndre Hopkins. We all know what he brings to the table. Will Fuller’s season ended with an ACL tear on a Thursday night home game against the Miami Dolphins in late October. Coach Bill O’Brien said Fuller was on a “good track” in his recovery process. Barring a major setback, we can expect the Desean Jackson clone to be ready for Week 1.The key this season might be Keke Coutee.Last we saw of the receiver from Texas Tech, he caught eleven balls with a touchdown in the Texans’ playoff loss to the Colts.Coutee dealt with hamstring injuries through training camp and did not play in one preseason game. The issue lingered into the regular season. He was only able to play five total games including the playoffs. To paraphrase, O’Brien stated that the injuries were a result of Coutee training for the combine and having a tough transition to football training.Coutee is an undersized receiver, standing a mere 5 feet 11 inches and weighing about 180 pounds. He is an agile receiver who is a slot weapon. His skill set is that of a slightly larger Taylor Gabriel. He is great for screen passes, dump-off passes, and running the end-around.His value to this team will come by keeping the defense honest. Instead of dropping back in coverage, Coutee is shifty enough to draw the attention from linebackers or nickel corners. Teams will care more to cover the short-middle routes and the flats. The second-year receiver can also be a nightmare against the blitz if used properly. O’Brien and offensive coordinator Tim Kelly will have to understand how to effectively utilize Coutee. If Fuller comes back to full health, that means teams will have to drop a safety deep to prevent him from blowing the top off. Hopkins will take away the team’s most physical corner and he will see a lot of double coverage. That puts Coutee in a position where he will see one-on-one matchups from the Patrick Robinsons and Desmond Kings of the world. Because of the personnel around him, he can earn a living from short routes and dump offs. His quickness was on display last season in a small sample size. He showed his promise, and he should be fresh and ready to play in 2019. It will now be up to O’Brien and Tim Kelly to properly scheme for his abilities. Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski sent New England fans into a panic this offseason when they hinted at retiring rather than returning to the Patriots in 2018.On Sunday, it was the rest of the NFL watching in fear.Brady threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns, hitting Gronkowski for 123 yards and a score to lead the defending AFC champions to a 27-20 victory over the Houston Texans. The reigning NFL MVP found Gronkowski seven times, including a 21-yard touchdown three plays after Deshaun Watson fumbled a handoff at the Texans 19 on Houston’s first offensive play .“It’s very important that they came out and played the way they did. They’re our leaders,” said Phillip Dorsett Braxton Miller Jersey White , who had seven catches, including a touchdown. “When they play well, they give an adrenaline boost to the rest of the team.”Brady, 41, clashed with the team he’s led to five Super Bowl titles in the past year over the treatment of his personal fitness guru and the plans to elevate backup Jimmy Garoppolo to starter. In February, after throwing for 500 yards in a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Brady was coy about returning this season. The Patriots dangled Gronkowski as trade bait this summer before agreeing instead to sweeten his contract with $4.3 million in reachable incentives. Gronkowski reportedly threatened to retire if traded.“I’m just glad to be here, glad to be part of this team, glad to be part of this organization,” he said. “All that talk, all that stuff, I would love to put it in the past.”Brady also found James White for a touchdown, completing 26 of 39 passes in all; he also had an interception on a pass that was tipped at the line of scrimmage. It was Gronkowski’s 31st career regular-season or playoff game of 100 yards or more, tying Tony Gonzalez’s NFL record.“We’ve been playing together for a long time,” Brady said. “I know his body language. I know his ability to run and what routes. He can do it. He can do really all the routes. It’s just a matter of giving him a chance http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-deshaun-watson-jersey , and it came with a big touchdown today.”Watson, who missed the final nine games last season with a torn right ACL, completed 17 of 35 passes for 176 yards, one score and one interception. He struggled to move the team in the first 40 minutes, managing just a pair of field-goal drives before Alfred Blue ran it in from 1 yard to make it 24-13 in the last two minutes of the third period.A muffed punt by New England’s Riley McCarron with under five minutes left set up Watson’s 5-yard TD pass to Bruce Ellington and cut the deficit to 27-20. But after getting the ball back at their 1 with 43 seconds left, the Texans failed to reach midfield.“I think it was terrible, on my part,” Watson said. “I just feel like you can put the ‘L’ on me.”With Julian Edelman serving a four-game suspension, Dorsett caught seven passes for 66 yards, including a 4-yard TD pass in the closing seconds of the first half to make it 21-6. White had four receptions for 38 yards, including a 12-yard score.Lamar Miller ran 20 times for 98 yards for Houston, which welcomed Watson, defensive lineman J.J. Watt and linebacker Whitney Mercilus back from injuries. Watt had two quarterback hurries, but D.J. Reader had the only two sacks of Brady, both late.“It’s good to play a full game to know it lasts Jay Prosch Jersey White , to know it holds up,” said Watt, a three-time defensive player of the year. “I didn’t think about it once. So, that’s all you can ask for.”It was Watson who felt the pressure the rest of the game. The second-year quarterback, who threw for 301 yards in a 36-33 loss to New England last year in his second NFL start, botched a handoff with Miller in the first quarter, setting up the Patriots up for their first touchdown. In the second quarter, Watson inexplicably chucked the ball into the end zone for a double-covered Vyncint Smith on a second-and-3 from the New England 42.Stephon Gilmore brought it down for the interception.BALL CONTROLThe Patriots also had trouble with turnovers.Brady had an interception in the first quarter on a throw tipped by defensive lineman Angelo Blackson and brought in by Tyrann Mathieu at the Patriots 17. The Texans went backward 7 yards before Ka’imi Fairbairn’s 42-yard field goal made it 7-3.Gronkowski also fumbled in the third quarter after a 25-yard reception across the middle. Mathieu recovered, but after advancing to the New England 17, the Texans gave the ball back on downs. The muffed punt by McCarron gave the Texans one last chance.INJURIESTexans: DE Christian Covington injured his thigh in the first quarter. T Seantrel Henderson left after getting his left ankle rolled a few plays later. Kevin Johnson left with what the team said was a concussion and did not return.Patriots: RB Jeremy Hill left with a right knee injury on the Gronkowski fumble in the third quarter.LATE SERIESAfter the Texans forced New England to punt in the final minute, Ryan Allen landed the ball inside the 5-yard line and Jonathan Jones downed it at the 1. Houston advanced to the 16 on a penalty for leading with the helmet and Watson found DeAndre Hopkins for 14 yards before scrambling for 13 more. From his 43 with 5 seconds left, Watson chucked the ball as far as the 10 but it was knocked away.UP NEXTTexans: visit Tennessee Sunday for an early AFC South showdown.Patriots: visit Jacksonville Sunday in a rematch of the Jan. 21 AFC championship game New England won 24-20 to reach the Super Bowl for the third time in four years.
The draft hasn’t started yet http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-quandre-diggs-jersey , but we know one player who will be taking part in the Lions’ rookie minicamp later this year.Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that former Air Force player Ryan Watson recently worked out for the team and accepted an invitation to attend camp in May. Watson played linebacker in college, but is listed as a defensive end so he’s apparently switching positions in his bid for an NFL career.Watson finished school in 2016 and had a workout with the Cardinals that might have resulted in a contract if not for his two-year active duty commitment. That commitment ended this week and Watson also worked out for the Falcons.Watson had 97 tackles Austin Bryant Jersey 2019 , 14.5 sacks and 20 tackles for loss in 38 college games. Saints tight end Garrett Griffin is the only Air Force alum currently on an NFL roster as guard Ben Garland remains a free agent after playing for Atlanta the last four years. The Buccaneers barely waited for Gerald McCoy to take his belongings and leave before they replaced him. Three days after releasing McCoy, Tampa Bay signed Ndamukong Suh.On Monday Color Rush Austin Bryant Jersey , Suh announced on Twitter that he will wear No. 93, McCoy’s old number with the Bucs.It is not like it’s a new number for Suh. He wore 90 during his five seasons with the Lions before switching to 93 with the Dolphins in 2015. Suh has worn 93 since. But some on social media have seen Suh’s decision to pick McCoy’s old number as disrespectful. The Bucs just hope Suh wears it as well as McCoy did in earning six Pro Bowls and making 54.5 sacks in his nine seasons in Tampa. They will get to see their prize addition this week at a mandatory minicamp.“IT’S THAT TIME!! Whose ready for mini camp?!” Suh wrote on his Twitter post along with the photo of him in his No. 93 Bucs jersey.
Bengals records with the potential to be broken in 2018 While the Bengals’ roster is young Tyler Boyd Jersey White , there are quite a few impressive veterans leading the charge in Cincinnati like quarterback Andy Dalton, wide receiver A.J. Green and defensive linemen Carlos Dunlap and Geno Atkins. All four of those players have the potential to change the Bengals’ record books this season. Dalton and Green could do it in Week 2 against the Ravens at Paul Brown Stadium. Here are 11 Bengals records that are close to being broken, starting with one that could happen tonight.QB Andy Dalton has 22 career 300-yard passing games, one shy of QB Boomer Esiason for the Bengals’ all-time lead.Dalton also has 3,556 career passing attempts, eight shy of Esiason (3,564) for second place all-time. P Lee Johnson (746) is the Bengals’ all-time leader.P Kevin Huber also has 31,499 punting yards, 697 shy of Johnson for the Bengals’ all-time lead. *The NFL has counted sacks as official statistics since 1982. However, the Bengals have sack statistics compiled since 1976 and recognize those sacks recorded from ’76-81 in its records. Thus, please note that, because the NFL has sacks statistics for all teams only since 1982, the Bengals’ sack statistics for players whose careers included seasons prior to ’82 will not be included in league information. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is on injured reserve after elbow surgery, but he’s still very much involved with the team for which he has played since 2004.As explained by Gerry Dulac of the Womens Randy Bullock Jersey , Roethlisberger gave his teammates a pregame pep talk before Monday night’s win over the Bengals.“He just talked about the opportunity and not taking for granted being able to play,” cornerback Joe Haden said, via Dulac. “Coming from Ben, knowing he played such a long time and see how much he misses it, how much he wants to be out there, it puts it in perspective for a lot of guys.”It worked. Although the Steelers seemed a little sluggish early in the game, falling behind 3-0, they snapped out of it in the second quarter and won easily. The explanation was simple: The Steelers seemed to appreciate the significance of playing in prime time, and the Bengals didn’t.“I think it resonated with a lot of guys Jordan Evans Jersey ,” defensive end Cam Heyward said, per Dulac. “It’s up to us to pick up the slack. He’s done a lot for us over the years. It sucks not having him this year. Maybe one day we can return the favor.”Heyward wasn’t the only team leader to recognize the significance of the team’s ultimate leader.“For a player like Ben Roethlisberger, who was born to play football, it says something about the man,” left tackle Alejandro Villanueva said, via Dulac. “It opens the eyes and hearts of those players who, maybe in the back of their minds, take it for granted.”And it wasn’t just the pregame speech. Roethlisberger was actively involved in helping the team do what it needed to do.“That’s our leader, so his presence was definitely felt Vincent Rey Jersey ,” running back James Conner said, per Dulac. “Just having our leader there was huge for us and having him on the sideline, communicating, relaying messages to Mason [Rudolph], him telling us what he sees. He did everything he could except play.”Roethlisberger presumably will be doing it again on Sunday, for a much stiffer test against the Ravens. And if the Steelers win the game with a boost from Big Ben, they’ll be right in the thick of the race for the AFC North crown.
