BEREA https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Damarious-Randall-Jersey , Ohio (AP) — Back when their chances of playing quarterback in the NFL were still in the dream stages, Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield sat in an apartment near Texas Tech’s campus and played video games. It was 2013.Three years later, they appeared to do the same thing on the field.“It was a basketball score,” Mayfield recalled.“That game was crazy,” Mahomes said, remembering the October night in 2016 when he and Mayfield re-wrote the NCAA record book. The quarterbacks and friends will renew their old rivalry — and perhaps embark on a new one as pros — Sunday when Mahomes leads Kansas City and the Chiefs‘ high-flying, high-octane offense, into Cleveland to play Mayfield and the Browns, who are again in disarray following the firings this week of coach Hue Jackson and coordinator Todd Haley. The previous time they met between the hash marks, Mahomes and Mayfield put on a stunning statistical show unlike anything college football had seen before. They combined for 12 touchdown passes, 1,279 yards passing and broke the total yardage mark with 1,708 yards — 854 for each school.Looking back, Mayfield, who threw seven TD passes to Mahomes’ five and led the Sooners to a 66-59 win, still can’t fathom what happened.“That was my ‘Welcome back to Lubbock’ moment,” said Mayfield, who began his college career as a walk-on at Texas Tech before transferring.“Weird things happen in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday nights. It is pretty funny, Oklahoma goes back to Lubbock this weekend and then I am playing Pat on Sunday.”Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who has replaced Jackson as Cleveland’s interim coach, shook his head in disbelief when given details of the Mahomes-Mayfield shootout.“Oh, my gosh,” he said. “Setting defenses back a thousand years.”No one — not even the quarterbacks themselves — could have envisioned their first meeting five years ago when Mayfield hosted Mahomes on his recruiting trip to Texas Tech would blossom into a friendship and maybe the NFL’s next great QB duel.Mayfield was aware of Mahomes’ background and talent — son of a major league baseball player, bazooka-like arm — but then got to know him personally during that weekend visit. What Mayfield quickly learned was that, like him, Mahomes is a natural leader.“Patrick has always been an easygoing guy,” Mayfield said. “That is why those teammates he has always had play for him so hard. He gets their respect not just based on talent — that’s easy to respect — but based on who he is as a person. He just has that presence about him that you want to be around. You gravitate towards that so it is fun to see him grow.”And my, has Mahomes grown. The 22-year-old leads the league with 26 TD passes and 2,526 yards. He threw six TD passes in Week 2 against Pittsburgh, and Mahomes has made as many jaw-dropping Darren Fells Jersey , highlight-reel worthy plays this season as many QBs have in a career.Mahomes’ arm strength has drawn rave reviews. Ask any coach, player, scout or reporter who has seen him play about him, and there’s usually a tale about one of his throws.Mayfield said he’s “absolutely” jealous of Mahomes’ rocket right arm.“There was a play in that college game, he was rolling to his left, flicked it and it went about 65 in the air for a touchdown back of the end zone,” Mayfield said, remembering the OU-Texas Tech classic in ’16. “He does stuff that you can’t even think of even being possible.”Mayfield was surprised Mahomes wasn’t taken in 2017 with the No. 1 pick, which ended up being Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.“Talent-wise, I thought he should have been. I love Myles but,” Mayfield said with a smile.“Coming from the Texas Tech system, there are always your skeptics about people doubting the fact that all he did was sit back there and throw the ball. He threw it 88 times in our game, but when it comes down to it, throwing the ball is throwing the ball, and he is really good at it.”So is Mayfield. While Mahomes only started one game as a rookie last season, Mayfield was thrust into the lineup in Week 3 when Tyrod Taylor was hurt.Mayfield doesn’t have nearly the same supporting cast as Mahomes, but he’s put up respectable numbers and feels he’s learning with every snap.“His talent is through the roof,” Mahomes said of Mayfield. “He is going to keep getting better every single week. He has already had a lot of success. The sky is the limit for him.”On Sunday, they’ll go at it again — pass for pass, play for play — in what appears to be a mismatch with the Chiefs rolling and the Browns reeling. But beyond the score, the NFL could get its first glimpse at a budding QB rivalry. It’s not Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning, but that one started somewhere too.“I would absolutely not say that it going to be Brady-Manning right now, but it is humbling to be in that conversation,” Mayfield said.“If he keeps playing that way, there is no reason why it would not be on his side of things. Now, I just have to pick up my side and play better.” For the fourth consecutive season, the Minnesota Vikings will take a kicker and punter pair into their opener that's different than the year before. This time, their specialists have a combined 17 seasons and counting of NFL experience. Perhaps, for the viability of their quest to return to the playoffs and win that elusive Super Bowl, not to mention for the sake of coach Mike Zimmer's sanity, the Vikings have finally stabilized these confounding positions that can make or break a game at the most critical moments."I hope so," Zimmer said on Monday T. J. Carrie Color Rush Jersey , with the first game against Atlanta just six days away. "It's like everything else: You have to go out and do it. But they both had a good day out there today, so we'll see."Britton Colquitt is the newbie this time, and he's no stranger to professional football. The 10th-year punter signed with the Vikings on Sunday after being cut by Cleveland in favor of rookie Jamie Gillan.Colquitt, the younger brother of Kansas City punter Dustin Colquitt, was picked as an alternate for the Pro Bowl last season after tying a franchise record with 32 punts landed inside the 20-yard line. Colquitt spent three years with Cleveland, after his first six seasons in Denver included a Super Bowl ring. He has a career average of 45.5 yards per punt.Colquitt will also serve as the holder, an often overlooked role that was part of the reason the Vikings let punter Matt Wile go. The Vikings brought in second-year specialist Kaare Vedvik three weeks ago to challenge both Wile and kicker Dan Bailey, even sending Baltimore a fifth-round draft pick to get him. Vedvik missed three of four field goals in exhibition game action and was waived over the weekend, eventually claimed by the New York Jets.Bailey, who joined the Vikings three games into the 2018 season after rookie Daniel Carlson was dumped, will now have another new holder and a rookie long snapper, Austin Cutting."Dan went 6 for 6, so it was a good day," Colquitt said after his first practice with the Vikings. "I feel like it wasn't too complicated. We got some good stuff done, and we got some good chemistry."From Blair Walsh to Kai Forbath to Carlson to Bailey as the kickers, and from Jeff Locke to Ryan Quigley to Wile to Colquitt as the punters, the Vikings have churned through more than their share of specialists since 2016. After Walsh's infamous wide left on the 27-yard field-goal try in the playoffs after the 2015 season, the Vikings have sure been snake-bitten on special teams.Including Cutting, a seventh-rounder this year, they've invested five draft picks on specialists in eight years since Rick Spielman took the general manager title."This is my 10th year, so I feel confident in that. I'm not worried about that," Colquitt said, adding: "I don't think there's a curse here. I just think there hasn't been a good mesh. And I think there's been talent, because I think Wile and Quigley have been really good punters. But it's a whole thing. It's a room, you know what I mean? It takes the long snapper, the holder, the punter and the kicker, and the coaches. It's a big thing. We're kind of like golfers, a little more sensitive sometimes than the big, tough, meaty football players. It's a whole chemistry deal."
teams in Los Angeles on Monday Jimmy Graham Color Rush Jersey , Tony Pauline of draftanalyst.com reports. The Texans sent their director of scouting.Thompson and former West Virginia receiver Marcus Simms are expected to be drafted in Wednesday’s supplemental draft. Thompson measured just over 5 feet, 10 inches and weighed 186 pounds with 8 3/8-inch hands and an arm strength of 31 1/4, according to Pauline. He had a 33 1/2 vertical and 40-yard dash times of 4.47 and 4.56, with a 4.16 in the short shuttle and a 6.98 in the three cone. The Falcons ran Thompson’s position drills.Thompson met with the Packers after his workout, and the Patriots, Rams, Dolphins, Colts and Cardinals also showed interest in him, per Pauline.Thompson lost his final year of NCAA eligibility, prompting him to declare for the supplemental draft.Former Syracuse linebacker Shyheim Cullen, former Saint Francis defensive back Bryant Perry and former junior college tight end Devonaire Clarington also have entered their names in the supplemental draft. Remember the last time the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears played each other? It feels like half a lifetime ago. In week one on Sunday night https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Muhammad-Wilkerson-Jersey , Aaron Rodgers injured his knee in the first half before returning to everyone’s surprise after halftime. He led a furious fourth-quarter comeback, culminating in a 75-yard touchdown catch-and-run by Randall Cobb, as the Packers beat the Bears 24-23.The Packers were even largely healthy for that opening-week game, but fast forward to week 15 and you see a very different story, both in terms of Green Bay’s health and the overall direction of both of these NFC North rivals. The Packers’ offense has scuffled and the team has made critical mistakes in critical times. Mike McCarthy is out, and Joe Philbin is in as the interim head coach. Rodgers’ knee is much better, but many of the bad habits he seemed to develop while dealing with that injury remain. And the Bears are good. Their defense is far and away the best in the NFL, creating turnovers at a rate not seen in nearly a decade. They can be beaten, however, as the offense is also turnover-prone in recent weeks. The Bears have ten giveaways in the past four games, but they also have ten takeaways — therefore DeShone Kizer Jersey , capitalizing on their mistakes while avoiding turnovers of their own will be a key to the Packers staying competitive. As the teams prepare for Sunday, do the same for your watching of the game by checking out our Game Primer below.WHO?Green Bay Packers (5-7-1) vs. Chicago Bears (9-4)WHERE?Soldier FieldChicago, IllinoisWHEN?Sunday, December 16th, 201812:00 Noon Central Time (1:00 PM Eastern)HOW?TV BroadcastPackers-Bears game shown in blue506sports.comFOXCommentators: Chris Myers, Daryl JohnsonRadio BroadcastPackers Radio NetworkWTMJ.com (not available on mobile)Sirius: 125/82 XM: 383/227ANYTHING ELSE?OddsBears favored by 6 pointsOver/under total: 45.5All-time head-to-head recordRegular season: Packers lead 96-93-6Postseason: Tied 1-1Recent meetingsWeek 1 2018: @Packers 24, Bears 23Week 10 2017: Packers 23, @Bears 16Week 4 2017: @Packers 35, Bears 14Current Winning StreakPackers have won 5 straight

Those complaints, at first glance, are entirely warranted. However, much of what has been written doesn’t tell the entire story. We all became aware of the sexual assault allegations on Wednesday after The Fountain Hopper (FoHo), an independent student-run newspaper not affiliated with Stanford, acquired documents and published a story naming Okereke as the football player detailed in a New York Times article in December 2016. The New York Times (NYT) did not name the woman or Okereke in their reporting. It is unclear how FoHo obtained these documents. Under Title IX, these documents are generally considered confidential and are not disclosed to the public. The revised guidance for Title IX states, “. . . a school should be aware of the confidentiality concerns of an accused employee or student. Publicized accusations of sexual harassment, if ultimately found to be false, may nevertheless irreparably damage the reputation of the accused.” This confidentiality standard is applied in order to respect the Due Process Rights of the accused. If allegations are made public, regardless of their veracity, those rights may be violated.Additionally, in the Questions and Answers on Title IX and Sexual Violence published by the Department of Education in 2014, “to the extent possible, a school should only disclose information regarding alleged incidents of sexual violence to individuals who are responsible for handling the school’s response.” Thus, only those involved in the hearing process would have been made aware of the allegations against Okereke. This is likely why this situation was not publicized prior to the draft process. Stanford was following the guidance as provided under Title IX. When questioned by the NYT in the original article, Stanford cited confidentiality rules and federal law as to why they could not discuss details of the case. Stanford discussing the details of this case or voluntarily releasing the documents would likely violate federal law.Again, it is unclear how FoHo obtained these documents. The details of the alleged sexual assault, sadly Josh Ferguson Jersey , are all too common on college campuses. The woman, we’ll call her Anna for consistency as that is what her pseudo-name is in other publications, went to a fraternity party where she met Okereke. According to FoHo, the two went back to Anna’s dorm for an encounter that was initially consensual. However, Anna said she became uncomfortable and withdrew consent. After which, Anna alleges she was raped.Anna reported the sexual assault allegation to Stanford and a Title IX hearing was performed. It became the all too common “he said-she said” debate. FoHo allegedly obtained Facebook messages from Okereke saying he tried to get one of Anna’s friends to attest Anna was black-out drunk on the night in question as an attempt to discredit Anna’s story. However, according to FoHo, Anna’s friend said the conversation with Okereke never occurred and Anna’s friend believed it was an attempt to “put words in his mouth,” according to documents from the case obtained by FoHo.During the investigation and hearing process, Stanford placed a no contact order requiring Okereke to stay away from Anna. Anna alleges Okereke repeatedly violated this order by refusing to leave parties in which they both were present. She tried to obtain a restraining order but was denied. After a nine month process, two separate five person panels found in favor of Anna on a 3-2 vote but, under Stanford’s rules, at least a 4-1 vote is required to find the accused responsible. On it’s face, this decision seems completely unreasonable as Title IX says a school must use a “Preponderance of the Evidence” standard, which typically means more likely than not or 51%. However, under California law, the Preponderance of the Evidence standard requires a super-majority of jurors in a civil case, i.e., 9 out of 12 or 75%. Stanford, at that time, was operating under California law. This is why Stanford required a 4-1 vote T.J. Green Color Rush Jersey , or 80%, to find the accused responsible since that would meet the threshold set out by the State of California. Since this case, Stanford has instituted a new procedure utilizing three experienced panelists that requires a unanimous 3-0 vote in order to find the accused responsible. It should be noted Anna chose not to pursue criminal charges in this case. The NYT and FoHo makes it seem like finding an accused responsible is an almost insurmountable task under Stanford’s system. However, soon after the NYT’s article, Stanford released a statement noting 13 out of 16 cases in 2016 charged by the Title IX coordinator were found in favor of the accuser, not the accused. This would appear to undercut the NYT and FoHo argument that the system itself is fundamentally flawed in favor of the accused. Stanford also contends there are many discrepancies in the NYT story regarding how certain aspects of the investigation were presented and handled by Stanford. So ultimately, for Colts fans, what more would you want the organization to do?The Colts were unaware of this situation prior to Okereke disclosing it to the team at the Senior Bowl. The Colts did their homework. They did background checks. They spoke with people familiar with the incident. The documents of the proceeding were considered confidential so there was no way of knowing what was said beyond speaking to interested parties. But should the Colts have reached out to the accuser? Yes. Why they didn’t do this is lost on me. My gut says it was likely out of an abundance of caution and to be respectful to the accuser. These things are incredibly sensitive and personal. Asking someone to relive a sexual assault is difficult so the team used their best judgment after conducting their own investigation. A long time reader with experience in vetting sexual assault allegations pointed out to me privately that the team likely engaged in a very sensitive balancing of the pros and cons in making the decision not to reach out. The general consensus in that industry is to not reach out to the accuser, especially in sexual assault allegations. Even so, I understand the team’s perspective. As Ballard noted, there was no punishment from Stanford after a disciplinary hearing and no criminal charges were filed. After conducting their own investigation, the team felt reaching out and speaking to the alleged victim was unnecessary. That doesn’t quite sit right but one can understand why. The Colts spoke not just to Okereke but also to people associated with the university and people close to Okereke about the situation. It is clear that after what they learned the team felt comfortable with Okereke. As a reminder, this situation was in the middle of the Brock Turner case, in which Turner, a Stanford swimmer, was charged and convicted of raping an unconscious woman. Stanford likely would have been extra cautious not to simply overlook sexual assault allegations against an athlete. To be clear, I’m not dismissing the allegations. Sexual assault allegations should not be dismissed. They should be taken seriously. Even though an encounter may begin as consensual, once consent is withdrawn, that person’s wishes should be respected. Despite finding 13 out of 15 other persons responsible in Title IX cases in 2016, Stanford did not find Okereke responsible in this troubling “he said-she said” scenario. Given what we know now, I’m not sure how the Colts could have handled this situation any better after the news came out. Why would the team voluntarily divulge this information prior to or right after drafting Okereke given he was not disciplined by Stanford or charged with a crime? Should they have done more in investigating the situation by reaching out to the alleged victim or her attorney once they were made aware of the allegations? Possibly. However https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Matthias-Farley-Jersey , it may not have changed their perception of the situation. After the team conducted their own investigation, they felt comfortable drafting Okereke. Given the results of the disciplinary process, one should give Okereke the benefit of the doubt. Two separate panels did not find him responsible. No criminal charges were filed.Chris Ballard has always been up front and honest when addressing basically everything related to the Colts. He felt comfortable drafting Okereke. That should tell you something. Not surprisingly, fewer fans are going to games in person. Financial news site 24/7 Wall St. used sports attendance data from ESPN over the past 10 years and found every one of the four major sports leagues in the United States has seen a decline in total attendance from 2008 to 2018.But not every team is losing fans at the same rate.Of the 12 franchises in the four sports to see the biggest decline in attendance, four were NFL teams.Washington saw the biggest attendance decline among NFL franchises, ranking fifth with a 31.1 percent drop in average attendance, according to 24/7 Wall St.The team led the NFL in average attendance in 2008, with 88,604 fans packing FedEx Field that season. In 2018, Washington averaged 61,028 fans, a decline of 31.1 percent. Washington was the only NFL team that failed to fill at least three-quarters of seats in its stadium last season, per the website. If Dwayne Haskins does what Washington drafted him to do, the team could see a resurgence. The Bengals rank seventh on the list with a 21.4 percent drop in average attendance, the Buccaneers 10th with a 15.7 percent decline and the Colts 12th with a 10.8 percent decline. If you’re wondering why the Chargers aren’t listed, 24/7 Wall St. did not consider teams that “switched venues or made significant changes to their existing venue.”Major League Baseball had the top four teams on the list led by the Detroit Tigers, with a 41.3 percent average attendance drop since 2008.
Duane Brown Color Rush Jersey , only two members of the Seattle Seahawks made the squad, All Universe linebacker Bobby Wagner and rookie phenom punter Michael Dickson. Of the multiple Seahawks who made the team as alternates, one of the players who received the most outcry about having been snubbed is Frank Clark, who is an alternate, but is not a starter. Thus, the question becomes, was he snubbed? Fans of the Hawks (and other teams) reacted on social media and elsewhere regarding the omission of Clark from the NFC squad. Here’s a sampling of some of the reaction on Twitter: So, obviously, multiple fans think Clark was snubbed, so let’s turn to the stats and see. There’s no doubt that Clark is easily having the best season of his young NFL career, as he has been a terror for opposing quarterbacks all season, recording 12 sacks and 21 quarterback hits. How does that compare to the three defensive ends that made the NFC Pro Bowl team? Frank Clark and Pro Bowl DEs rushing the passer in 2018PlayerSacksQB HitsTotal PressureSnaps PlayedPlayerSacksQB HitsTotal PressureSnaps PlayedSo K.J. Wright Color Rush Jersey , by those measures Clark is certainly in the discussion for being in place when it comes time for the Pro Bowl to announce the players who made it. However, these are obviously all numbers that are accumulated in the passing game, so the question follows, where does Clark stack up when it comes to making plays in the running game, and here we start to see some separation between Clark and the other players. Frank Clark and Pro Bowl DEs against the run in 2018PlayerTacklesTFLSnaps PlayedPlayerTacklesTFLSnaps PlayedThere is zero doubt that when looking at these from a run-stopping perspective, Frank Clark comes in below the other three. Thus, when combining the fact that the pass rushing numbers are largely the same for all four players, the fact that Clark’s contributions in stopping the run fall short of the other three leads me to believe that Pro Bowl selection process actually made the correct decision putting him as an alternate. Now, can an argument be made that Clark should have made the Pro Bowl? Absolutely. But in my opinion, the three guys who did make it, are the three guys who should have made it. Moving on to one of the other players for whom there have been some loud voices on social media, Tyler Lockett was also not selected to the Pro Bowl roster. This in spite of having recorded 800 yards and 9 touchdowns in an offense that throws the ball less often than any other offense in the NFL Bobby Wagner Color Rush Jersey , which appears to have been the problem. Yes, there is no doubt that Lockett is having a phenomenally efficient season, and that he has returned to health in 2018 to fill the void left by the departure of Paul Richardson and Jimmy Graham. However, players don’t make the Pro Bowl based on efficiency because fans still like big counting numbers. Thus, let’s go ahead and compare Lockett’s 2018 numbers to those players who did make the Pro Bowl: Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, Adam Thielen and Davante Adams. Tyler Lockett next to 2018 Pro Bowl WRsPlayerReceptionsTargetsCatch RateYardsYards/ReceptionTDPlayerReceptionsTargetsCatch RateYardsYards/ReceptionTDAs you see, the last row in the table is an anonymous player I’ve named the “Mystery Man” because if there is a wide receiver in the NFC who warrants having made the Pro Bowl roster over one of the four receivers that actually did make it, that would be my vote. Unfortunately, Mystery Man isn’t a real person, it’s the combined stats of Lockett and Doug Baldwin. So, yes Justin Coleman Color Rush Jersey , there is absolutely zero debate whatsoever that Lockett is having a phenomenal season, and that his phenomenal season is the result of a historically efficient season. At the end of the day Pro Bowl voters want big numbers, and no receiver in the current Seahawks offense is going to put up the kind of numbers necessary to make the Pro Bowl. Thus, if you have an issue with Lockett having been left off the Pro Bowl roster, it seems more appropriate to take it up with Pete Carroll and Brian Schottenheimer than it does to complain about the process or how Lockett never stood a chance in the offensive system in which he plays. Just to demonstrate how little the Seahawks actually throw the ball, and how few opportunities he actually gets as a receiver, here are Lockett’s numbers compared to the four Pro Bowl tight ends from both the AFC and the NFC. The always-risky practice of interpreting tweets doesn’t stop people from interpreting tweets.Seahawks tackle Duane Brown has posted a tweet consisting of six sets of wide, surprised eyes. Given that he played for the Texans before joining the Seahawks and given that one of his former Houston teammates currently has been linked to the Seahawks in a possible trade, it’s worth at least wondering whether defensive end Jadeveon Clowney could be headed for the Pacific Northwest. The Texans clearly want to trade Clowney, and Clowney has resisted signing his franchise tender, which prevents the Texans from trading him. Since he reportedly wants to be traded to the Seahawks or the Eagles Russell Wilson Color Rush Jersey , he’d presumably be inclined to accept the one-year offer if it’s a precursor to being shipped to Seattle. As cryptic tweets go, Seahawks offensive lineman Germain Ifedi retweeted the Brown tweet by tweeting a pair of eyes, which could mean that Brown has shared whatever caused him to tweet what he tweeted with Ifedi, prompting him to tweet what he tweeted. Or that Ifedi was simply having some fun in response to Brown’s tweet. The Texans reportedly had been talking to the Dolphins about a Clowney trade, with Houston willing to send Clowney plus a first-round pick to Miami for tackle Laremy Tunsil, and with the Dolphins reportedly wanting more. The fact that the team trading for Clowney can’t sign him to a multi-year contract makes Clowney less valuable than he otherwise would be. Whichever team acquires his rights has Clowney for one season at a franchise tender in the range of $16 million, with a 20-percent raise looming for 2020.Whatever the case may be with Brown’s tweet, it’s fun to read tea leaves or interpret tweets, especially on the one day of the year when, from a transactional standpoint, plenty of unexpected things can and will happen.
CARSON Harrison Phillips Jerseys 2019 , Calif. (AP) — Anthony Lynn made his NFL head coaching debut last winter for one game amid the chaos of another lost season for the Buffalo Bills.Although Lynn speaks warmly of his two seasons in chilly Buffalo, he hasn’t thought much about the Bills (5-4) this season before their imminent arrival at StubHub Center to face his Los Angeles Chargers (3-6) on Sunday.“I interviewed there, and they went a different direction,” said Lynn, who spent 2015 as the Bills’ running backs coach and most of 2016 as their offensive coordinator.“I didn’t think I was the favorite there anyway, because how many times do you hire a guy from the staff when you fire the head coach? It doesn’t happen too often. I did appreciate the interview, but I’m where I want to be.”Although the Bills won 15 games over their two seasons, Lynn and head coach Rex Ryan couldn’t figure out how to end a playoff drought currently sitting at 17 years.Lynn’s brief tenure after Ryan’s firing included the awkward task of benching Tyrod Taylor for the finale without being able to publicly explain the reasoning of then-GM Doug Whaley and owner Terry Pegula for the move.New Bills coach Sean McDermott coincidentally made the same move earlier this week, benching Taylor in favor of Nathan Peterman . The rookie fifth-round pick will make his first NFL start against the Chargers and their phenomenal pass-rushing duo of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram.McDermott’s Bills are in playoff position with seven games to go, but he’s also struggling to figure out how to get the most out of a team with 23 players from last season’s team. Peterman is his latest attempt to generate a spark.“I guess playing Coach Lynn, it won’t be weird, because we have bigger things to worry about,” said Bills running back LeSean McCoy, who racked up 2,162 yards during Lynn’s two seasons.“Winning games, converting on third downs, running the ball, putting numbers up, putting stats up, putting drives together. We have all those things to kind of worry about, some things we’re not doing. We’ve got to find a way to do it.”Two teams on two-game skids are meeting at the Chargers’ temporary home south of downtown LA. The Chargers, playing at home for just the second time in seven weeks, need a quick surge to have any hope of playoff contention, while the Bills control their own postseason destiny despite everything. Here are more things to watch in these original AFL franchises’ first meeting since 2014:QB QUESTION: Philip Rivers is recovering from symptoms of a concussion , which he reported after the Chargers returned from Jacksonville with a heartbreaking overtime loss , their fifth by eight points or fewer this season.Although Rivers appears to be progressing well through the NFL’s concussion protocol, Lynn realizes his availability could be in question right up to game time.If Rivers can’t play, Kellen Clemens would make his first NFL start since 2013. “In the backup position, you prepare the same way every week,” Clemens said. “You enjoy playing, but I understand my role. I’m here to help Philip and help this team in any capacity possible.”SLIPPING: After getting off to a strong start under McDermott, the Bills are in jeopardy of making what’s become a familiar late-season fade during the longest active non-playoff streak in North America’s four major professional sports. This marks the eighth time during the drought in which the Bills have had a winning record through nine games (all of them 5-4). They have proceeded to lose the 10th game the past six times. Buffalo hasn’t been 6-4 since 2000 — the year the drought began.STALLED OFFENSE: While the Bills have their own concerns on offense leading to a quarterback change White Taron Johnson Jerseys , the Chargers are struggling to explain several unimpressive efforts by an offense with ample talent, including Rivers and a solid group of receivers.Los Angeles is 25th in the league in points, 22nd in yards on first down, and 29th in third-down efficiency, only reaching the red zone 20 times all season. Lynn and offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt aren’t addressing the problems with personnel changes — not yet, anyway.RUN IT: The ground game might be helpful in fixing the Chargers’ woes. Buffalo’s defense has allowed 492 yards rushing over the past two games, and LA running back Melvin Gordon seems overdue for a breakout game. The veteran lost carries last week to rookie Austin Ekeler, who rushed for two scores before committing a key fumble. Lynn said both will play against Buffalo.TRASHED: The Bills made a big offensive change, but the defense is smarting after giving up 47 points last week to New Orleans in their worst defensive game since 2012.Buffalo has forced only one turnover in its two consecutive losses after forcing 17 during the 5-2 start. Rivers has thrown seven interceptions, and that’s actually an improvement from last season.——AP Sports Writer John Wawrow in Buffalo contributed to this report.—— No team has drawn more attention, positive and negative, heading into the NFL's 100th season than the Cleveland Browns. The Raiders are close for drama in their final year in Oakland, but Baker Mayfield and crew take the headline honors.Beginning Sunday when they host Tennessee, we'll find out if the new and improved Browns are exactly that, and a playoff contender. Or if they will do what the Browns nearly always have done since returning to the NFL in 1999, and disappoint the Dawg Pound."I'm very excited to see what we can do, what we're capable of doing out there," Mayfield said. "Nobody has done anything yet, so I'd say everyone is starting the same: square one. I'd say it's pretty hard to live up to any hype if you're listening to the outside. None of that really matters. We've got a bunch of guys who have bought in to what's going on in this building and the standards that we're setting. So to us that's all that matters."The Titans have been a contender the past three years, going 9-7 each time and making the playoffs once. Their defense ought to be stout, and figures to get tested by Mayfield throwing to Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, plus Nick Chubb running the ball."Definitely starting the season with a great challenge," Titans cornerback Logan Ryan said. "They're great players. We know that. We're going to do what we always do and prepare for them. Study all their routes, study everything they do ... and go out there and challenge them. That's the nature of this game. That's how you make a living in this game is going and covering good guys every week, and those are some good guys."The centennial season began Thursday night in Chicago with the Green Bay Packers' 10-3 victory over the Bears. Aaron Rodgers hit Jimmy Graham in the second quarter for the only touchdown. The Packers lead the NFL's longest rivalry 98-95-6. Green Bay has won 16 of the last 19 regular-season meetings, and Rodgers is 17-5.Pittsburgh at New EnglandThe Patriots have been playing down the fact they weren't chosen for the opener of the NFL's 100th season despite their latest Lombardi Trophy. But their coaching staff finds little items to push the players' buttons, and Tom Brady is as strong a motivator to teammates as anyone in the league.New England does have some major questions marks at receiver and tight end, and on the D-line. But somehow those things tend to work out.Pittsburgh lost two of its biggest stars in receiver Antonio Brown, now in Oakland, and running back Le'Veon Bell (Jets). But many in the Steel City are seeing that as eliminating huge distractions.Atlanta at MinnesotaTwo coaches, Dan Quinn with the Falcons, Mike Zimmer with the Vikings Taron Johnson Jerseys 2019 , who need quick starts and solid seasons to enhance their job security. For Quinn, a defensive guru as a coordinator, getting that unit more stingy is a must. A healthy group will help — injuries ravaged the Atlanta D last year. The Falcons also went with offensive linemen Chris Lindstrom and Kaleb McGary in the first round of the draft. The O-line faces a solid defense in Minnesota, which ranked fourth in yards allowed and ninth in points allowed last year. But the Vikings also have blocking concerns on offense.Los Angeles Rams at CarolinaPotent throughout 2018 and into the playoffs, the Rams could do little with the ball in the Super Bowl. That memory has to burn coach Sean McVay and, especially, QB Jared Goff, who didn't look ready for the big-game spotlight. If running back Todd Gurley isn't hampered by seemingly chronic knee issues, this still is among the most dangerous offense in football.Opening with a cross-country trip sure beats going from LA to Charlotte in midseason, and the Rams face a Panthers team plagued by uncertainty in many areas. Not a problem is Carolina's versatile RB Christian McCaffrey, who would truly impress if he can have a huge game against two-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald and the Rams' solid defense.Houston at New Orleans, Monday nightAfter all those moves recently, the Texans have a new look that might solve two of their biggest issues from 2018: Can they protect Deshaun Watson, and who will be the wideout opposite sensational DeAndre Hopkins. Houston traded for left tackle Laremy Tunsil and WR Kenny Stills. Of course, the Texans also sent Jadeveon Clowney to Seattle when they couldn't reach a contract solution with the pass rusher. This prime-time matchup is the first opportunity for the Saints to step on the field for a real game since, as they would say in the Big Easy, "Dey wuz robbed" in the NFC title game. New Orleans might have the most talent in the league, led by the incomparable Drew Brees.Kansas City at JacksonvilleThen again, at least on offense, the mother lode is in KC, led by 2018 MVP Patrick Mahomes. For Mahomes to match last season — 50 TDs passing, 113.8 rating, off-the-charts creativity — might be expecting a bit much. Or maybe expecting too little."We got a lot of experience last year. We played in a lot of big games. We won some, we lost some," Mahomes said. "What you learn from those games, you see what you have to do to be a great football team. For us this year, it's all about just taking that next step."For the Jaguars, it's about reversing their direction after falling from AFC championship game losers to 5-11. Getting RB Leonard Fournette straightened out would help, and new QB Nick Foles has an enviable track record in the toughest spots.Baltimore at MiamiBaltimore will be one of the more intriguing teams as it grows on offense with second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson and also tries to remain powerful on defense despite some major defections. Adding safety Earl Thomas, with a mammoth chip on his shoulder after how things ended for him in Seattle, could provide a significant boost. All we can say about the Dolphins is: When does the draft begin next April?Cincinnati at SeattleMiami's "we're not tanking" tank-job approach could rob the Bengals of being the AFC's worst outfit. New coach Zac Taylor has a roster in transition in a prove-it year for quarterback Andy Dalton.Plus, for a while White Tre’Davious White Jersey , Dalton doesn't have star receiver A.J. Green (ankle). Cincinnati should be able to run the ball decently and has a solid defensive base up front. But the overall talent level is low. Can't say the same in Seattle, where coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider have retooled while remaining competitive. Adding Clowney to bolster what looked like a mediocre pass rush adds to the belief the Seahawks once more will be a playoff bunch. But they can't stumble in matchups such as this.Indianapolis at Los Angeles ChargersIndy showed its faith in Jacoby Brissett — what else could the Colts do after Andrew Luck's retirement — by signing him to a rich deal. While Brissett isn't likely to be the kind of lights-out performer that Luck often was, he's hardly a desperation option. Also, don't forget how well the Colts have drafted in recent years. They might have some more gems in 2019.The Chargers basically told Melvin Gordon to go away if he won't play under his current contract, but unlike Indy without Luck, the Chargers remain loaded and a Super Bowl threat. So much will depend on the pass rush provided by Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa.Washington at PhiladelphiaAs long as QB Carson Wentz is on the field, the Eagles should fly. Coach Doug Pederson's offense doesn't have many big names — TE Zach Ertz and C Jason Kelce are outstanding — but it runs so efficiently with Wentz that Philly ranks among the NFL's elite. The defense has some questions, particularly in the front seven. But Washington isn't likely to test that D given all the upheaval in the nation's capital. Not having star left tackle Trent Williams really hurts.New York Giants at DallasZeke is back. Whether he suits up Sunday after the summer-long holdout, or is a factor if in uniform, could determine the winner in Big D.Regardless, the Cowboys are in good position for a solid start facing the Giants, Redskins and Dolphins at the outset, and with a developing defense that figures to get after the passer. And the Dallas D figures to succeed against Eli Manning if New York hasn't fixed its seemingly habitual blocking problems. If 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley has a big game here, retire his number.Denver at Oakland, Monday nightA traditional rivalry game, too, with roots back to the AFL.The sight of Jon Gruden rocking out to Metallica makes one wonder if the Raiders coach will have his troops "Seek and Destroy" the Broncos in the prime-time doubleheader nightcap. Gruden certainly has more weapons at his disposal; of course, he dispersed some of his top players a year ago in his return to the sideline.New Denver QB Joe Flacco and longtime defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, in his first gig as a head man, would prefer to make the Raiders "Fade to Black."Buffalo at New York JetsThe chasers.New England is being awarded its 11th successive AFC East title by default. Not by these two teams, but if they are realistic, the Jets and Bills recognize they are competing for a wild-card spot with a successful year.So this becomes a key opener, with both clubs expecting huge improvement from their second-year QBs, Sam Darnold in New York, Josh Allen in Buffalo."Electric," Darnold says of his team's offense. "I think we're going to do some fun things out there with all the tempo and all the different things we can do, so it will be fun."As long as they don't have a blackout.San Francisco at Tampa BayA couple of relatively unproven but highly paid QBs on teams whose defenses also must step up. Jimmy Garoppolo should get the chance against the Buccaneers' leaky D, and the same could be true for Jameis Winston against the Niners. Of most intrigue is the return to coaching after a one-year hiatus by Bruce Arians. You can bet Winston will be prepared well by the QB whisperer.Detroit at ArizonaTop overall draft choice Kyler Murray will run (and probably often scramble in) new coach Kliff Kingsbury's wide-open and sometimes wild attack. The Lions could be a difficult matchup for Murray if coach Matt Patricia can implement the kind of defense he coordinated in New England. Patricia failed at that last season in Detroit.
EAST RUTHERFORD Ryan Connelly Jersey Boys , N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have waived former first-round draft pick Ereck Flowers and signed tackle Brian Mihalik off their practice squad to replace him.The team announced the moves Tuesday, a day after coach Pat Shurmur said Flowers would either be traded or waived within 24 hours.Flowers was the ninth pick overall in the 2015 draft. He never lived up to expectations. The Miami product was moved from left to right tackle this season after free agent Nate Solder was signed. He ended up losing that job to Chad Wheeler after two games. The Giants, who face the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, also signed kicker Marshall Koehn to their practice squad. Placekicker Aldrick Rosas has a sore quad and his status for Thursday is uncertain.Shurmur said Tuesday that Rosas’ injury is improving.Mihalik played in 15 games for the Detroit Lions in 2017 Infant Ryan Connelly Jersey , starting twice. He has been on the Giants practice squad since Sept. 13.Koehn was with the Giants from Jan. 1 until his release on Sept. 1. He has played in one NFL game, for Cincinnati at Jacksonville on Nov. 5. He made his only extra point attempt, and had one touchback on two kickoffs. The Giants came close to trading receiver Odell Beckham Jr. last year. And then they didn’t trade him.So what happened? As Chris Simms explained on Monday’s , New England’s interest in Beckham ultimately caused the Giants to think twice. Basically Ryan Connelly Jersey Draft , if the Patriots saw something in Beckham that would have caused them to give up significant trade compensation and to cough up a significant second contract even though he’d never previously played for the Patriots, the Giants should be more inclined to keep him around. The fears may have been well founded. Although the Patriots haven’t had a solid track record of drafting receivers, they’ve found some of their best receivers in the Belichick-Brady era by trading for veterans like Randy Moss, Wes Welker Ryan Connelly NFL Jersey , Brandin Cooks, and Chris Hogan. So if the Patriots were willing to pull the trigger on a Beckham trade, the Patriots truly believed that Beckham would have become a major difference-maker.Whether he would have been a major difference-maker is a different question. It takes a certain kind of personality to accept ; former NFL receiver Chad Johnson was required to check his personality at the door when traded by the Bengals in 2011 — and he promptly struggled during his short time in New England. Beckham quite possibly would have had the same experience. The Patriots apparently were banking on Beckham thriving, with coach Bill Belichick Ryan Connelly NFL Draft , offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, and quarterback Tom Brady providing the kind of structure, support, and (ultimately) success that would have kept Beckham from engaging in periodic outbursts fundamentally fueled by a burning desire to win.Regardless Ryan Connelly Buffalo Bills Jersey , New England’s interest was enough to get the Giants to trade Beckham to no one last year. Whether that could change this year will be the subject of an upcoming blurb.
FORT LAUDERDALE Womens Ryan Allen Jersey , Fla. (AP) — Florida prosecutors have offered a plea deal to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and other men charged with paying for illicit sex at a massage parlor. The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office confirmed Tuesday it has offered Kraft and 24 other men charged with soliciting prostitution the standard diversion program offered to first-time offenders. The men must concede they would be found guilty, perform 100 hours community service and attend a class on prostitution’s dangers and how it perpetuates human trafficking, spokesman Mike Edmondson said. They must also be tested for sexually transmitted diseases and pay a court fee of $5,000 per count. Kraft, 77, was charged with two counts last month. In return, the charges of misdemeanor soliciting prostitution would be dropped. Edmondson said none have accepted so far. By accepting, the men might also avoid having to appear in court, Edmondson said. That would be negotiated.Kraft’s attorney Jack Goldberger did not immediately return a call seeking comment, and Patriots spokesman Stacey James refused comment. If Kraft refuses the deal, he would be put on trial and, if found guilty, face a possible year in jail, although that would be unlikely. He has pleaded not guilty.Golfer Tiger Woods entered a similar diversion program in 2017 when he was charged in Palm Beach County with driving under the influence. He appeared in court to accept the deal.Kraft’s deal offer was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.Kraft is one of about 300 men charged in multiple counties between Palm Beach and Orlando as part of a crackdown on illicit massage parlors and human trafficking. Ten parlors have been closed and employees have also been charged. Many of the women are originally from China, were forced to live in the spas and were not allowed to leave without an escort, according to investigators. The owner of the Orchids of Asia Day Spa http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-jason-mccourty-jersey , the Jupiter, Florida, parlor Kraft is accused of visiting, is charged with 29 felony prostitution and related charges. Authorities investigated the 10 parlors for months, gathering evidence through interviews with men stopped leaving the spas, trash bin searches and surveillance of the spa owners. Judges then issued warrants allowing them to secretly install cameras inside the spas to record what transpired.Police said they have video of Orchids of Asia employees performing various sex acts with two dozen customers. Owner Hua Zhang, 58, has pleaded not guilty.Sheriff William Snyder of neighboring Martin County spearheaded the massage parlor crackdown. He said in a recent interview with The Associated Press the traditional route of only charging parlor owners and their employees while ignoring their customers doesn’t work. He said the only way massage parlor prostitution and its related human trafficking will be curtailed is to charge the men, too.“As long as there is a demand, there will be a supply — and I was stunned by the amount of demand,” he said.Police say Kraft visited Orchids of Asia twice in late January just before he flew to Kansas City to see the Patriots defeat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.According to police records, Kraft was chauffeured to the massage parlor in a 2014 white Bentley on the evening of Jan. 19, where officers say they secretly videotaped him engaging in a sex act and then handing over an undetermined amount of cash.Investigators said Kraft returned 17 hours later, arriving at the upper-middle class shopping center where the spa was located in a chauffeured 2015 blue Bentley, the documents said. Kraft, who is worth $6 billion Kyle Van Noy Jersey , was videotaped engaging in sex acts before paying with a $100 bill and another bill, police said. Hours later, he was in Kansas City for the game. His team then won the Super Bowl in Atlanta, the Patriots’ sixth NFL championship under his ownership. The NFL has not taken any action against Kraft but has said its personal conduct policy “applies equally to everyone in the NFL” and it will handle “this allegation in the same way we would handle any issue under the policy.” Kraft’s wife, Myra Hiatt Kraft, died in 2011. He has been dating 39-year-old actress Ricki Noel Lander since 2012.Kraft, who made his initial fortune through a packaging company, bought the Patriots in 1994 for $172 million to keep the team from moving to St. Louis. He hired Bill Belichick as coach in 2000, and the team later drafted quarterback Tom Brady, launching its nearly two decades of success. EDTShareTweetShareShareTop 10 Patriots Draft Fits #2: Mississippi State EDGE Montez SweatBrian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsThe Patriots edge rusher position is about in similar shape to the DT postion. The team has veterans and rotation players manning the position, but could use an infusion of young talent at the position. The Patriots attempted to add Derek Rivers to the position two years ago, but it hasn’t worked out so far due to an ACL injury suffered in Rivers’ rookie year. The team also has Keionta Davis, who saw less and less time on the field further down the season. The team could very well stick with their approach of picking up mid-round plug and play guys who had moderate ceilings as it’s worked in the past. However there is one prospect at the position that could be an intriguing add in the first round, it’s Montez Sweat from Mississippi State.Combine DataHeight: 6’6”Weight: 260Arm: 35 3/4”Hand: 10 1/2”40: 4.41225-lb Bench Reps: 21Vertical: 36”Broad Jump: 10’5”5-10-5 Shuttle: 4.293-Cone: 7.00StrengthsPrototypical size and length for the positionElite SEC productionPlug and play starterAdept hand fighterBends around the edge wellContains mobile QBs in the pocketAthletic enough to drop into coverage when askedWeaknessesReportedly has heart condition that’s given teams concernsWill need to add muscle weight to his frame to be sturdier vs. runPad level and leverage at times will be an issueWhy the Patriots Will Draft HimThe team does not need a starter at the position, but given the depth at the position of moderate ceiling players the team should not be afraid to take Sweat if he falls out of the Top 20. Sweat has ideal measurables for an edge rusher and is athletic enough to drop into coverage. From a scheme standpoint Womens Chris Hogan Jersey , Sweat can fit both a stand-up rusher role in a 3-4 or a hand-in-the-dirt linemen in a 4-3. The Patriots typically like to have edge guys who fit both schemes to disguise their ability to rush the QB. There is some upside in the kicking game as Sweat would be on the FG block unit, an edge blocker on FG unit (like Chandler Jones), as well as kick/punt coverage. The 4-down upside is something the Patriots should consider when thinking about a trade up or picking even at 32.Why the Patriots Will Not Draft HimSweat has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: a heart condition in which the heart is abnormally thick. The problem is not believed to be as severe as the case with Maurice Hurst went from Top 15 prospect to a 5th round pick. Some teams have taken Sweat off their draft boards, and I have zero idea if the Patriots are one of those teams. Sweat was allowed to work out at the combine vs. Hurst, who was shut down. The problem has not affected him in his Mississippi State career. The only other issue is a checkered off-the-field list from his days at Michigan State that had him kicked out of the program. The Patriots took a chance on J.C. Jackson last season, so I don’t believe that will disqualify him as a fit with New England. The other major reason is he simply won’t be available. Teams sitting in the late teens and early 20s might be salivating to draft a player of his talent and possibly execute a trade to get a player with DPOY upside. Who He Has to Beat Out: Derek Rivers, Keionta DavisRookie Year ProjectionSweat would start out 3rd in the rotation behind Michael Bennett and Deatrich Wise Jr. The Patriots would try to get him on the field on special teams and as a designated pass rusher on passing downs. Sweat’s pass rushing upside already makes him capable of being a quality contributor as a rookie on the defensive front with more upside to be had in future years. Sweat will require a bit of time in the weight room to bulk up from 260 to 270 to be sturdier on the edge vs. the run although he’s not a liability in that area either. Long Term ProjectionSweat would be the highest upside pass rusher the Patriots added since drafting Chandler Jones 21st overall in 2012. By the end of Year 2, Sweat will become the top edge rusher in the defense and the key matchup weapon against the weakness of the opposing OL. I’m curious to see if he can rush inside, not necessarily with his hand in the dirt, similar to how the Patriots utilized Dont’a Hightower and Kyle Van Noy in the Super Bowl. Against run formations and personnel, Sweat would play exclusively on the edge.Grade: 5/5 StarterRound: 1stIf Sweat makes it past the 20th pick, the Patriots have to consider a potential trade up to land a potential game-changing talent to the defense. Sweat is a player with Top 10 measurables and tape, and would otherwise be a Top 10 pick if not for the heart condition. While the Patriots are not starving for a starter, they could certainly upgrade a position that has a need 2 years down the road. The 5th year option would give the Patriots 5 years of cost control for a potential elite player.
FLORHAM PARK White Buster Skrine Jerseys , N.J. (AP) — Gregg Williams was hired Wednesday as the New York Jets‘ defensive coordinator, the first major staff addition by Adam Gase since he became coach. The team also announced it has retained special teams coordinator Brant Boyer, whose unit had a standout season. The 60-year-old Williams went 5-3 as Cleveland’s interim coach this season after Hue Jackson was fired. At his introductory news conference Monday, the offensive-minded Gase said he was looking for a “head coach of the defense” while he focuses heavily on the other side of the ball.“We always appreciated competing against him,” Gase told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “It was always a challenge. Always loved the way his guys played, the intensity they played with. They defended every blade of grass. I mean, they would always get after it.”Williams is a controversial figure as he was suspended by the NFL for the entire 2012 season for his role in the “Bountygate” scandal in New Orleans. Saints defensive players were paid bonuses for injuring opposing team players.Williams has since worked with Tennessee Buster Skrine Jerseys 2019 , the Rams and Browns — the past two as defensive coordinator. He previously was the head coach of Buffalo for three seasons, and has also served as the defensive coordinator for the Titans, Washington and Jacksonville. The 47-year-old Boyer will be one of a likely few holdovers from former coach Todd Bowles’ staff. After the Jets struggled at times during his first two seasons with the team, New York’s special teams unit was an overwhelming bright spot. The analytics site Football Outsiders ranked the Jets first in the NFL, while Pro Football Focus placed them fifth.Kick returner Andre Roberts was selected to The Associated Press All-Pro Team and voted to the Pro Bowl after finishing first in the league with 14.1 yards per punt return and ranking second in kickoff return average at 29.4 yards. He also scored one touchdown each on kickoffs and punts.Jason Myers, who like Roberts was in his first season with the Jets, broke the NFL record for most field goals of 55 yards or more in a season with five and the franchise record for most field goals in a game with seven. coach is still in its infancy but judging by the list of candidates the team has reached out to so far Kingsley Keke Jersey 2019 , one common thread seems to be emerging.A need for discipline. This makes one assume both team president Mark Murphy and general manager Brian Gutekunst feel former coach Mike McCarthy was getting a little too lax and perhaps a little too comfortable with his players. Players were not being held accountable and that is what Murphy and Gutekunst apparently feel needs to change first and foremost.New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels seems to be the perfect candidate if this is the case. He’s stood up to Tom Brady multiple times and they’ve still succeeded together. He doesn’t come without his risks, but having Rodgers on the roster could be something that ultimately makes McDaniels fully commit to finally leaving New England.Others on the list also would install a strong sense of discipline including Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores who has called himself a disciplinarian and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak.Regardless of who the Packers hire, it seems like restoring order is top of mind for the team. Gutekunst by all accounts had a phenomenal offseason but that didn’t translate onto the field.Gutekunst proved he can get the right ingredients. New York gave up 494 yards on defense, had no sacks or takeaways. ...Fantasy tip: With WR Sterling Shepard coming off concussion, Engram could have another big game for Giants. Kelvin Benjamin had a hard time putting into words why it was such a difficult year for him in Buffalo. He wrung his hands. He shrugged. He searched for words.“I mean Youth Thurman Thomas Jerseys , I mean, I just. . . .,” Benjamin said Friday, via video from Brooke Pryor of the . “There’s a lot of variables I guess. It’s just one of those seasons. It’s a rebuild-type year I guess.”It’s safe to say Benjamin is hoping for better results in Kansas City, which officially signed him Friday. The former first-round pick of the Panthers made 23 catches for 354 yards and a touchdown with four starting quarterbacks in Buffalo. The Bills are 4-8; the Chiefs are 10-2.“It is a business,” Benjamin said. “I鈥檓 glad to be here. We already know that the Kansas City Chiefs have been tearing it up this year. They were one of the teams that really wanted me, and I鈥檓 happy and glad to be here.鈥
Packers vs. Steelers Za’Darius Smith Jersey , Preseason 2018: Second half game updates & discussion The Green Bay Packers lead the Pittsburgh Steelers After Tramon Williams ripped off a pick-six on the game’s first play from scrimmage, Aaron Rodgers went to work on his only drive of the night. Rodgers completed a quick slant to Davante Adams for a catch-and-run for 27 yards, then found Jimmy Graham for an 8-yard touchdown to cap off the series and give the Packers a 14-0 lead. The defense gave that lead back quickly, however, allowing a big rushing performance and touchdown to James Conner. Then after a Ty Montgomery fumble on the ensuing kickoff, Mason Rudolph tied the game with a two-play touchdown drive capped off by a scoring pass to Juju Smith-Shuster.Brett Hundley had less success Billy Turner Jersey , but still led three scoring drives. He scored a rushing touchdown and led the Packers to a pair of field goal drives and a 27-14 lead before DeShone Kizer took over late in the first half. We’re looking for more readers to join the Acme Packing Company FanPulse group and weigh in on polls tracking the Packers’ 2018 season!Click here for more information or click here to sign up.Kizer led a late scoring drive from midfield, finding Jake Kumerow, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Robert Tonyan for gains of 12, 12, and 14 yards. After a pass interference penalty on Pittsburgh Adrian Amos Jersey , Kizer found Tonyan on a one-yard goal-line fade for another touchdown, giving the Packers a 34-14 halftime lead. On Monday, the team announced a contract extension for defensive lineman Dean Lowry.Prior to the extension Jimmy Graham Jersey , Lowry would have entered next offseason without a contract. The new extension, which the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Olivia Reiner reports will add three years and $20.325 million ($6 million guaranteed at signing) to Lowry’s existing deal, will prevent the defensive lineman from hitting the open market at the same time the Packers face contract decisions with Mike Daniels, Blake Martinez, and others.Lowry, a former fourth-round pick and part-time starter Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey , hasn’t garnered as much attention as fellow defensive linemen Kenny Clark or Daniels. Still, Lowry has quietly developed into a consistent contributor for a unit often lacking for talent. According to Pro Football Focus, he finished last season third on the team in total pressures (31) and defensive stops (23), both career-high marks.Perhaps as importantly, Lowry has rarely missed time during his three seasons with the Packers. He has sat out a game only once since joining the team -- a healthy scratch during his rookie year. That availability certainly contributed to his new contract extension.Since 2016, Lowry has registered 84 tackles Marcedes Lewis Jersey , 13 tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hits and seven sacks. He also returned a fumble recovery 62 yards for a touchdown.
The two draft experts from ESPN are at it again Eric Kendricks Jersey , as Todd McShay and Mel Kiper have each released what they call their “Grade A” mock drafts. In these mocks, they both project three rounds and make the selections that would give each NFL team an “A” in the post-draft grades that are always at least three years too premature in being handed out.(I say that every year. Nobody listens. Ah, well.)Both of these “Grade A” mocks are behind the great E$PN paywall, but we can talk about the discussions. The sequence of picks that both men make for the Minnesota Vikings are similar, though the prioritization might be something that fans won’t agree with. Both men took an offensive lineman in Round 1, a defensive tackle in Round 2, and a running back in Round 3.As a matter of fact, both Kiper and McShay selected the same offensive lineman in Round 1, as they both tab University of Alabama offensive lineman Jonah Williams with the 18th pick. Both men, rightly, point out that Williams would be a huge addition to the Vikings’ offensive line, with Kiper pointing out that he could start immediately at either guard or tackle. Frankly http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-latavius-murray-jersey , if Williams falls to #18, the Vikings should be running to the podium to give their card to Roger Goodell. . .but that’s just my opinion.Moving on to Round 2, both McShay and Kiper selected a player that could slot in as the Vikings’ new three-technique tackle to replace the departed Sheldon Richardson. Kiper decides to select Ohio State defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones (a name that has appeared a lot in our Mock Draft Database as a second-round pick for the Vikings), while McShay opts for Miami (FL) tackle Gerald Willis. Both Jones and Willis have their issues against the run, but if the Vikings want to attempt to replicate Richardson’s disruptiveness in the pass game, either of those two guys would be a solid pick. The running back position gets featured in Round 3 in these “Grade A” mocks, with McShay selecting Iowa State back David Montgomery, while Kiper decides to select Miles Sanders out of Penn State. While I’m not sure if running back is a spot I’d use a third-rounder on, of the two options presented I think I’d probably lean a bit more towards Montgomery. I think he’s a better receiver than Sanders, and that’s something the Vikings seem to value out of their running backs. Not that Sanders would be a bad selection, necessarily. . .I just like Montgomery a little more. What do you think of these “Grade A” drafts, folks? Would either of them get an “A” from you? A commitment to running the ball manifests itself in a variety of ways. One key aspect of the run-pass mix comes on third and short. When the distance to earn a first down is relatively small (for these purposes Womens Trae Waynes Jersey , five yards or less), the offense can run or it can pass. The possibility that it will be either a run or a pass keeps the defense on its toes. But when an offense has opted to pass on the vast majority of third-and-short plays, a defense will be more inclined to defend against the pass — and better equipped to shut down the drive. For the Vikings, their run-pass ratio on third and short has been out of whack.Based on the official NFL game book for the 13 games played by the Vikings in 2018, the Vikings have run the ball on third and five, or shorter, only 13 of 80 times. On the other 67 occasions, the Vikings either threw the ball (59 times), took a sack (eight times), or the quarterback scrambled (once).Against the Seahawks, the Vikings ran three times on third and short, passing four times. That was by far the highest run ratio on third and short this year.In the first four games of the season Danielle Hunter Jersey , which produced a 1-2-1 record, the Vikings threw the ball 27 times on third and short, and they ran the ball only once. The Vikings may have spotted the trend during the bye week. Before the two-week break between games, they ran five times on third and short and passed 48 times (9.4 percent runs). Since then, the ratio has become eight runs and 19 passes (29.6 percent runs).Over the final three games of the regular season, it will be very interesting to see whether the Vikings opt to run or pass on third and short. In order to maximize the success rate, and to extend drives as long as possible, the ultimate goal will be to convert as many of those opportunities as possible.Which means that interim offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski likely will need to dial up a run in those spots far more frequently than former offensive coordinator John DeFilippo did.
FLORHAM PARK White Brandon Copeland Jerseys , N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets might be down a few key players for a couple of days.Left tackle Kelvin Beachum and running back/wide receiver Ty Montgomery are dealing with ankle injuries that could sideline them for a few days.Coach Adam Gase said Friday neither injury appears serious. The Jets practice again Saturday before having a day off Sunday.“Those could be day to day, could be a week,” Gase said. “We’ll kind of evaluate them.”Gase added cornerback Trumaine Johnson was nursing a sore groin before practice. But he participated during the first half of the session before sitting out the final period of team drills.“He tried to go,” Gase said. “We kind of pulled him out there toward the end. That’s kind of where that ended up.”Beachum was injured during drills involving the offensive and defensive lines. He was replaced by third-round pick Chuma Edoga on the first-team offense.“I just had to go in there and make sure there was no fall-off,” Edoga said.Edoga Brandon Copeland Jerseys 2019 , a former teammate of quarterback Sam Darnold and wide receiver Deontay Burnett at USC, has worked at both left and right tackle with the second-team offense since camp opened last week.“I feel like it made the transition (to the NFL) a lot easier seeing familiar faces,” Edoga said. “It was pretty cool.”Projected starting safety Marcus Maye remains on the active/physically unable to perform list while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. Also, center Ryan Kalil was scheduled to take his physical Friday after agreeing to terms on a one-year deal with the Jets on Thursday. Kalil retired after last season following a 12-year stint with Carolina, but opted to resume his playing career.“It’s a great thing to add to that group White Trumaine Johnson Jerseys , a guy that has played at a very high level for a long time,” Gase said. “He’s going to be really helpful for the offense, for the quarterback, for our locker room. We’re bringing in the right kind of guy for us. We’re fired up.”Gase added the 34-year-old Kalil won’t practice Saturday.“We’re going to make sure he’s good to go before he steps onto the field,” he said. With Kalil’s arrival Trumaine Johnson Jerseys 2019 , Jonotthan Harrison goes from projected starter to backup.“It’s one of those conversations that’s just not fun,” Gase said about telling Harrison he’d lost his starting role. “He is a true pro.”What was the most important play of the Jets’ 31-12 loss to the Jaguars? Let’s find the most important play of yesterday’s game between the Jets and the Jaguars. In such a thorough domination, people often half-jokingly suggest it was the kickoff, but let’s dig deeper.I am sure a number of people will highlight some of Todd Bowles’ suspect decisions to not go for it on a pair of fourth downs late in the game. However, the Jets were way behind at that point. The game was probably lost by that point.I look to T.J. Yeldon’s 31 yard touchdown late in yesterday’s second quarter. That put Jacksonville up 13-0. To that point the Jaguars had largely dominated White Terrelle Pryor Sr. Jerseys , but the game was within one score. It was an uncomfortable stretch for the Jaguars. In many instances, teams pay for not putting away an opponent when they have the chance early. Sometimes one big play the other way can change the dynamics of a game. The Jets were one turnover away from perhaps swinging things. The Yeldon touchdown put the Jaguars up two scores. Given the quality of Jacksonville’s defense and the way the Jets offense was struggling, that one play made a comeback a huge uphill climb. I think this was the most important play of the game. What is your most important play?
Those of us who remember the Patriots vs. Colts battles back in the day have seen this before. When I sit back and analyze the matchup between New England and the Kansas City Chiefs I’m brought back to that place in time. Why do I feel like this is a blast from the past? Let’s discuss and I’ll paint a picture.Quarterback playThe Chiefs have a highly touted quarterback who is rolling at the moment. While he’s not a Peyton Manning by any means Womens Jarrett Stidham Jersey , he comes into this game with similar intangibles. Both are accurate throwers with Patrick Mahomes having a cannon for a arm. The biggest difference between the two at this stage is Mahomes has scrambling ability unlike Peyton who was a true pocket passer. Look for the Patriots defense to try and keep Mahomes in the pocket without letting him extend plays with his legs.Running back playEdgerrin James and Kareem Hunt both possess the ability to take over a game on the ground. When I think about it they have a similar set of skills. While it is a different league now than when James played, the headache is still there. The Patriots always handled James, something they weren’t able to do last season with Hunt. The Patriots have to keep him in check for them to be successful in this game.Wide receiversWhere to begin with this one? The Colts brought in Marvin Harrison as their number one receiver. The Chiefs bring in Tyreek Hill who can flat out fly. I know you can’t allow Hill to go off in this game. The absolute lethal speedster can cause havoc both as a wideout and a punt returner. Don’t even kick it near him if you don’t have to. The Patriots defense will need to be very aware of him at all times. I suppose you can say Sammy Watkins would be the Chiefs’ equivalent of Reggie Wayne. I don’t personally believe that, but for this we can roll with it. The Kansas City wideout is a bit of a wildcard. They gotta be aware of him on the field, assuming he suits up. The Patriots defense will have their hands full this week just like they did back in the day with the Colts.I hope I connected the dots for everyone in my comparisons. We’ve seen this song and dance quite a few times haven’t we? Let’s hope like the other times the Pats get a win Sunday night. You can follow me on Twitter @Chris_Blackey and as always – Go, Pats! ATLANTA (AP) — It might have zero bearing on Sunday’s Super Bowl Authentic Jarrett Stidham Jersey , in which the Patriots are a 2½-point favorite over the Rams. Still, on Tuesday night, Los Angeles All-Pro running back Todd Gurley had the upper hand against New England star tight end Rob Gronkowski.Gurley beat Gronkowski 21-6 in a Madden NFL 19 Super Bowl 53 preview as part of Xbox Sessions: Game Before The Game. Some interceptions and a missed extra point did in Gronkowski in the contest.“Safe to say that game went good, I got to meet Gronk and hang out with him playing the game,” said Gurley, who led real football in scoring this season with 21 touchdowns. “Honestly I had one of my best Madden games I’ve ever had. I don’t know how I did it Jarrett Stidham Jersey Boys , but (Rams quarterback Jared) Goff came through in the clutch for me. It was a great time.”Not so much for Gronkowski, who wasn’t exactly Tom Brady at the controls in the video version of the Super Bowl.“It didn’t go so well for me there,” he said. “You know, I threw a couple of interceptions, I didn’t make enough plays; 21-6 I lost.“I got to come out better on Sunday for sure.”Gurley and Gronk appeared at the VIP Microsoft Lounge, where they were cheered on by some wildly enthusiastic fans. The good-natured but intense battle isn’t likely to have a similar final score given the powerful offenses on both sides Infant Jarrett Stidham Jersey , and how NFL teams have lit up the scoreboard all season.“We feel great about it because we’re keeping the same mentality we have every game,” said Gronkowski, whose Patriots are in their third straight Super Bowl and seek their sixth title. “It’s about us doing our job, as coach says, and that’s what we’re prepared to do.”For Super Bowl newcomer Gurley — the Rams last made the game in 2000 when they represented St. Louis — this isn’t just a chance for a championship. It’s a homecoming.“This is exciting, we’re out here in ATL for Super Bowl 53 playing against one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time Jarrett Stidham Jersey Draft ,” Gurley said. “It’s exciting to be back in Georgia where I went to school.“They’re a great team and we have a great team so looking forward to matching up against them.”Particularly if his Rams are as successful as Gurley was against Gronk.

We have been previewing potential draft prospects at least since we started the Big Blue Big Board podcast back at the end of October and those evaluations have grown to this point on the eve of the 2019 NFL Draft.SB Nation FanPulse voters pick the best player in the draft. There are 203 players are ranked on the Big Board, where we combined our positional rankings (which you can listen to on the podcasts linked below). We went with the two-axis horizontal board to divide these players into overall tiers and a loose ranking within each position. We’ll say loose positionally because this is the combination of two boards and while we came to an agreement on the tiers, we differed some on the exact placement within the tiers. This is where a discussion would be had in the draft room should we be on the clock looking at a certain position in a given tier.As would be expected for a big board in a real NFL draft room, there are fewer than 10 top-10 grades and fewer than 32 true first-round grades. But GM Dave Gettleman was not lying during his pre-draft press conference when he said there were a number of players and potential contributors available in Rounds 2 Christopher Slayton NFL Jersey , 3, and 4.So here it is, the 2019 Big Blue View Big Board:We’ll have an updated version after each day of the draft to see how we stacked up and who are potentially the best available remaining prospects. If you would like to hear us talk about how we personally ranked these players at each position, we did that in a two-part draft preview podcast this week.First was the offense:Followed by the defense: PHOENIX (AP) — For all the off-field shenanigans, verbal discord and injuries, Odell Beckham Jr. still is a special player. Giants owner John Mara recognizes that in the wake of the team trading the standout wide receiver to Cleveland earlier this month.“They made an offer that Dave (Gettleman, the Giants’ general manager) and Pat (Shurmur, the coach) found compelling Christopher Slayton NFL Draft , and we ultimately approved it,” Mara said Sunday at the NFL owners meetings. “It was a reluctant approval because I like Odell.”Mara, whose grandsons cried when told of the trade, acknowledged it’s “not going to be easy” to see what Beckham does for the Browns. He didn’t specify if he might bawl as well.“The toughest phone call I had to make was to my grandsons to tell them we traded their favorite player,” Mara said. “They sobbed uncontrollably.”But Beckham is gone in exchange for a first- and third-round draft selection and safety Jabrill Peppers, who should be a starter with Landon Collins leaving for Washington in free agency.New York wound up 5-11 and last in the NFC East, including going 2-6 at home. Beckham missed four games; the year before, he missed 12 with a severe ankle injury that could have threatened his career.“There were always extra issues Christopher Slayton Buffalo Bills Jersey ,” Mara said, referring in part to a one-game suspension in 2015 for an on-field feud with then-Carolina cornerback Josh Norman. “But I thought they were manageable ones, particularly given the talent.”One thing Mara doesn’t find so manageable is the criticism his team is taking for keeping Eli Manning as the starting quarterback. The Giants pick sixth in next month’s draft and have two first-rounders, so selecting a QB is highly possible. But the two-time Super Bowl MVP, at 38, is considered the No.1 guy.“Do I feel a certain amount of sentimentality toward Eli? Of course I do,” Mara said. “But would I ever let that get in the way of making a football decision? Absolutely not.“We’d never tell a coach or a general manager we have to keep this guy because we love him or because he’s done so much for the franchise. You make a football decision based on whether you think he can play or not. I do believe we can win with him if we continue to surround him with the right people.”
Ramon Humber Jerseys 2019 , future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers had some simple and clear advice for budding franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson: Slide. That’s advice every quarterback should take to heart. On Sunday, multiple young quarterbacks were reckless with their bodies when running with the ball beyond the line of scrimmage, and thus forfeiting all quarterback protections. Giants rookie Daniel Jones was doing it, Washington rookie Dwayne Haskins was doing it.In many cases, defensive players who are so conditioned to staying away from the guys who wear red jerseys in practice and who otherwise operate with an invisible halo that, if violated, will trigger flags and fines shy away from delivering a clean, legal, and potentially devastating hit to a quarterback who voluntarily has become a running back.Patriots coach Bill Belichick obviously coaches his guys to embrace the opportunity to treat a quarterback like a fullback. On Sunday White Jerry Hughes Jerseys , Jonathan Jones indeed went too far, dipping his helmet and adopting even if momentarily a launch posture before delivering a helmet-to-helmet blow to Bills quarterback Josh Allen. But the message for all defensive coaches is clear: The quarterback who becomes a running back can be treated like any running back. Thus, the message for all quarterbacks is even more clear: Don’t give them the chance. Get out of bounds. Get on the ground.Slide.2019 NFL Draft: Week Two College Football Prospect Preview & Live Chat While only two games this week feature ranked opponents facing off against each other (Georgia-South Carolina and USC-Stanford), there is still plenty to be excited about during the second week of college football. These early games of the season are good opportunities to see how small-school prospects fare against better competition. If you’re a prospect from Ball State or William & Mary, NFL scouts will want to know how you played this week against Notre Dame and Virginia Tech, respectively. Below are some of the prospects who will be trying to catch the eyes of scouts this week.Talk about the games, leave questions on prospects and enjoy your weekend.Keep your eyes on:Ed Oliver, DT (Houston)Oliver is already being touted as one of the premier talents of the 2019 Draft class. Despite being somewhat undersized, his speed Jerry Hughes Jerseys 2019 , strength and, most of all, his effort is undeniable. This week he has an interesting test against Arizona and their mobile quarterback Khalil Tate. Look for Oliver to run down Tate every time he can. While he might not always make the tackle, his athleticism and effort for a defensive tackle are rare.Other prospects to watch:Tariq Cole, OT (Rutgers)The Scarlett Knight’s leader on the offensive line is a solid NFL prospect. Having already started 24 games in his career, the senior left tackle is wise beyond his years. However, Cole’s biggest test of the season comes in the form of all-world defensive end Nick Bosa this week against #4 Ohio State. If the 6’6”, 320 pound Cole can at least hold his own, his draft stock could soar. Bryan Edwards & Deebo Samuel Youth Dion Dawkins Jerseys , WR (South Carolina)The two wideouts from South Carolina could be the 2019 version of James Washington and Marcell Ateman: prolific teammates that both see themselves drafted in the same year. Samuel, with his speed and open field moves is the star. Edwards however, is underrated. His body control and toughness in the middle of the field are his greatest strengths. They’ll both be tested this week by the strong Georgia secondary, including star cornerback Deandre Baker.Cameron Smith, LB (USC)Smith chose to forgo the NFL last year in the hopes of becoming USC’s all-time leading tackler. He only needs about 100 this season to break that mark. What he really needs to prove to NFL evaluators though is that he can cover. He’ll have a good chance this week against #10 Stanford, as the team loves to feature their tight ends in the passing game. The senior linebacker also shouldn’t forget about slowing down running back Bryce Love.Jonathan Crawford, SS (Indiana)Indiana’s secondary has been the team’s strength for a few years, and senior safety Jonathan Crawford has been a big part of that. Crawford has been a ball hawk in the past. He already has an interception this season, and nine total in his career. He’ll need to guard against the deep ball versus Virginia Dion Dawkins Jerseys Stitched , as the team loves to feature their explosive wide receiver, Olamide Zaccheaus. Dalton Risner, RT (Kansas State)A redshirt senior, Risner is another offensive line prospect with mountains of experience. While he plays right tackle for the Wildcats, the thought is that his 6’4”, 300 pound frame would be better suited to guard or even center. Regardless, Risner will be facing one of the best defensive lines in the country this week in #18 Mississippi State. How he performs against Defensive end Montez Sweat will be a talking point for scouts come draft time. Jaelan Phillips, ER (UCLA)Only a sophomore, Phillips is a size and speed edge rusher who has some work to do learning the nuances of the position. His first game this year was encouraging Matt Milano Jersey , as he came down with 9 tackles and a sack against Cincinnati. He’ll need to build on that performance if the Bruins hope to win against #6 Oklahoma—a team that loves to sling the football all over the field.Game of the Week: #17 USC vs. #10 StanfordThe Pac-12 is where it’s at this week, as the Trojans face off against Cardinal. The biggest draw will be seeing Stanford’s offense against USC’s defense. Both starting guards for Stanford are decent NFL draft prospects, while running back Bryce Love, tight end Kaden Smith and JJ Arcega-Whiteside proved to be quite prolific during their first game of the season. USC’s linebacking corps, featuring edge rusher Porter Gustin and the aforementioned Cameron Smith, is one of the best in the country.
The deal that sent Cleveland running back Carlos Hyde to Jacksonville last week prompted immediate pickups and high free agency acquisition budget (FAAB) bids on Cleveland rookie Nick Chubb. Oakland trading Amari Cooper on Monday to Dallas has led to a new Oakland waiver target at wide receiver. With the NFL trade deadline a week away Youth Kyle Williams Jerseys , you are going to have to stay regularly updated on the maneuvering as much as possible. You may have to rush to make a big move at any time in some leagues. Those with open pickups after waivers are facing a race similar to what happened last week when Chubb suddenly became a prized asset.RUNNING BACKSMARLON MACK, Colts (54 percent owned): Many owners cut Mack when he was not healthy, a mistake too many fantasy players make. You should not cut a potentially valuable player when they are hurt if it’s not a season-ender. Mack has exceeded expectations since roaring back from a hamstring problem over the past two games. He totaled 159 yards and a TD from scrimmage last week. Trade for a top waiver pick or spend a sizable amount of your FAAB on Mack if you need RB help.DOUG MARTIN, Raiders (18.2): Jalen Richard may turn out to be the more productive Oakland running back in point-per-reception leagues, especially as the Raiders play from behind often. But with Marshawn Lynch now on injured reserve, Martin should be the main ball carrier for Oakland. Martin has always been inconsistent but can rip off some big gains at any time.CHRIS IVORY, Bills (9): Here we are again recommending him, and hopefully a few of you learned your lesson already and kept Ivory rostered, as it is apparent LeSean McCoy cannot stay healthy. Now McCoy is in the concussion protocol and Ivory has a good chance to start for the Bills in Week 8. He has played well when called on, with 126 scrimmage yards in Week 3 and 81 rushing yards in Week 7.KAPRI BIBBS, Redskins (0.9): He caught four passes for 43 yards and a TD on Sunday with Chris Thompson out. Opportunities may continue to present themselves for Bibbs as Thompson seems to be a consistent injury risk and Adrian Peterson has been getting banged up. Bibbs could continue to get chances to fill in.WIDE RECEIVERSDANNY AMENDOLA Kyle Williams Jerseys Stitched , Dolphins (24.4): He has been revived over the past two games with Brock Osweiler taking over at QB for Miami. Amendola has caught 14 passes over the past two games and finished with 84 yards and a TD on Sunday. He is a nice add for bye week depth, but always keep in mind his long history of injury issues. He is already dealing with a seemingly minor shoulder problem this week.TRE’QUAN SMITH, Saints (8.7): The rookie exploded onto the scene with 111 receiving yards and two TDs in Week 5, and while Smith caught only three balls for 44 yards in Week 7, his role may continue to expand going forward. He’s more than just a big-play type, but that dimension makes him an exciting upside addition.KELVIN BENJAMIN, Bills (32.9): He has some past history with Derek Anderson, who will remain Buffalo’s starting QB for now. Anderson is a mess much like the other Bills QBs, but he can get the ball to Benjamin, who had four catches for 71 yards in Week 7. That makes him worth a flier for bye week usage.MARTAVIS BRYANT (9.1): The troubled but very talented Bryant will get another chance to show off his abilities following the Cooper trade. The deal opens a potential starting slot for Bryant, who had six catches for 142 yards in Weeks 4 and 5 while operating in a secondary role in the Oakland passing game.TIGHT ENDSCHRIS HERNDON Youth Doug Flutie Jerseys , Jets (0.6); He has scored in two consecutive games, building on some promise he showed in the preseason. The rookie has flashed recent signs of being a key target for his first-year QB, Sam Darnold. Herndon is also welcomed by the Jets to step forward more because of their injury issues at WR.ED DICKSON, Seahawks (0.2); He is finally back at practices and could make his season debut this Sunday. After missing the first six games with a quadriceps injury, Dickson could emerge as a streamer or bye week play.QUARTERBACKDak Prescott, Cowboys (30): He has re-emerged as a viable play over the past two games, as 115 rushing yards and two scores have boosted his outlook. Adding Cooper only creates more optimism that he now has the ability to eventually move back to at least high-end QB2 territory. Deep breaths, Buffalo Bills fans. Now remember, the idea of penalty harm is to review what was called and rate the impact on the game. I say that because there’s been a lot of conversation on picked up flags and no-calls. While those can impact the game for sure, it’s “penalty” harm not “shoulda been penalty” harm. That’s not a defense of the refs either. Despite me defending a certain decision I felt they had a lousy game. Live, I thought that there were missed flags on both teams and Bills Mafia has certainly dug up proof on one side of the ledger. Let’s take a look at what was called. If I didn’t cover something you’re curious on Doug Flutie Jerseys Stitched , drop a comment and I’ll try to get to it.
Standard and Advanced MetricsPenalty CountFor assessed count (left-hand columns) both the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots were essentially average. The true count includes offset and declined. There were seven between the two teams, which is closing in on double the expected. Both teams were a little more penalty prone than the league average and got “lucky” enough to have flags offset. As an aside, the league average trended up by 0.04 flags per team per game. Despite that, it’s a safe bet the rate will continue to fall and eventually settle closer to the 6.68 flags per team per game of 2018. Penalty YardsAccording to standard metrics, the Bills got the worse end of the flags. With both teams assessed at eight flags each, the extra 18 yards the Bills suffered puts them a solid chunk above league average. The Patriots, on the other hand, were a touch below average. For true yards, the Bills negated an extra 12 yards while the Patriots negated nine. In that regard, there’s very little difference and the overall gap in yardage between the two teams remained about the same. Penalty HarmNew England PatriotsA lot of these were boo-boos, landing under 1.0 Harm. Patrick Chung’s pass-interference flag was offset by Mitch Morse’s ineligible-downfield flag. Deatrich Wise’s offside was offset by holding on the part of Dion Dawkins. Jonathan Jones’s unnecessary roughness call was offset by holding on Dion Dawkins (again). I’ve seen a lot of fans conclude that the offsetting penalties were proof that the refs favored the Patriots. So let’s look at all of them Youth Jim Kelly Jerseys , starting with the Wise/Dawkins one. In addition to those, there’s not much to say about false start (two of those) and the illegal use of hands on Elandon Roberts. That flag occurred after Frank Gore ripped off a large chunk of yards and merely tacked on a few more. Our old friend Stephon Gilmore was called for two flags. His pass interference was declined as the catch was made. In these cases coaches elect to decline the flag so their players can keep the stats. The holding call didn’t go so well. In addition to the five assessed yards, it wiped out a nine-yard sack and gave up two free downs. That’s 0.5 + 0.9 + 2.0 for 3.4 Harm. A flag for too many men on the field became a free play for Josh Allen. Kudos to the Bills for recognizing that. Even though Allen couldn’t make them pay directly, the five-yard penalty also gave up two free downs for 2.5 Harm. Tom Brady’s intentional grounding was assessed for ten yards and one down for 2.0 Harm. Yes there should have been at least one more of these. Matthew Slater’s unsportsmanlike conduct occurred on special teams and was yardage only for 1.5 Harm. Slater was pushed out of bounds by Buffalo as a gunner (which is legal) and decided to run about 50 yards while still out of bounds (which is not). Kyle Van Noy was called for unnecessary roughness when the Bills faced second-and-nine at the New England 16. One free down and half the distance to the goal worked out to 1.8 Harm. Let’s look at this, remembering that it happened right after Allen exited. The Patriots had 12.7 Harm total, which is indicative of a game where penalties were somewhat of an issue. Based on the penalties called, there’s a high number of 15-yarders. An offset flag and the field position on the Van Noy one limited some of the direct damage from fairly dirty play. Buffalo BillsMost of these don’t have a deeper story. We’ve covered the three offset above. Lee Smith was called for two false starts. Along with the one from Ty Nsekhe and the Matt Barkley delay of game there’s a fair amount of negligible flags. Siran Neal was called for an illegal block on special teams, which was yardage only. Lee Smith’s holding call wiped out a five-yard run in addition to the ten assessed for 1.5 Harm. Smith had a busy day. Two flags in one game is rare, let alone the hat trick. Note Dawkins and Gilmore both also had two, making this a weird day. Oh yeah, Mitch Morse did too. On an offensive holding call he negated a seven-yard scramble by Allen Jim Kelly Jerseys Stitched , was flagged for nine based on the spot of the foul and wiped out a first down on third for two negated downs. Added up that comes to 3.6 Harm. Let’s take a look at this pair of offset penalties. Tre’Davious White has the distinction of worst penalty (by harm) for either team. His defensive pass interference flag was assessed for 27 yards and gave up three free downs as the Patriots were attempting a fourth-down conversion. That comes out to 5.7 Harm. I promised we’d look at all the offset penalties so here’s the other half of the Jonathan Jones/Dion Dawkins offsetting penalties. I assume at this point we’ve all seen Jones’s hit enough times so let’s focus on Dawkins. You may want to freshen up on your holding rules before you do though. This one I’ll discuss. The other two offset are all very clearly penalties. This one is a little more gray area as the defender is losing his balance already. There are other angles of this, but it’s clear that Dawkins gives a little tug to help the defender to the ground, which is one of three specific examples of offensive holding in the rule book. It’s a gray-area penalty, but certainly not a bad call. The Bills ended with 13.8 Harm, slightly worse than the Patriots but not significantly so. And while I still don’t feel the refs had a great game there’s not a great case to be made that they tossed any flags that weren’t earned.

Often, that means a team has shuffled multiple players in and out of the lineup, which makes the Bills’ struggles unique. Rather than dealing with injuries or multiple benchings, they actually stuck with the same below-average starter, Jordan Mills, for the last three years. Now that the team has cut ties with Mills, they have a chance to break in a new starter on the right side of the offensive line. The team spent plenty of capital, both in free-agent dollars and draft choices, to upgrade the offensive line, and plenty of competition exists for playing time and roster spots. In today’s installment of our “90 players in 90 days” series, we profile one of Buffalo’s free-agent acquisitions, a veteran swing tackle who has performed well with limited exposure over his career.
Name: Ty NsekheNumber: 77Position: THeight/Weight: 6’8” 330 lbs. Age: 33 (34 on 10/27/19)Experience/Draft: 5; undrafted in 2009, and first entered NFL with the Indianapolis Colts in 2012 (played in Arena Football League for three years prior)College: Texas StateAcquired: Signed with Bills as unrestricted free agent on 3/13/19
Financial situation (per Spotrac): Nsekhe comes to Buffalo on a two-year contract worth a total of $10 million. The contract contains $6.2 million in guarantees. In 2019, Nsekhe will count $4.8 million against the cap.2018 Recap: Nsekhe was Washington’s sixth offensive lineman last year, serving as the first man off the bench regardless of whether he was to fill in at tackle or guard. He played in 403 offensive snaps, 39.51% of the team’s total, and he appeared in 14 games. He made five starts—three at left tackle, and two at left guard—while also entering off the bench and playing the majority of the snaps at tackle in Washington’s Week 3 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Nsekhe committed five penalties on the season for a total of 35 yards, and he did not allow a sack.Positional outlook: Buffalo’s offensive line group is full of new faces Josh Allen Jersey , so Nsekhe isn’t alone. The team lists him as a tackle, so his primary competition for playing time and a roster spot includes Dion Dawkins, Cody Ford, Conor McDermott, LaAdrian Waddle, Garrett McGhin, Jeremiah Sirles, and De’Ondre Wesley. If you expand his position to include the guards, since Nsekhe has experience there, then Spencer Long, Quinton Spain, Wyatt Teller, Jon Feliciano, Ike Boettger, and Vladimir Ducasse become competitors, as well.2019 Offseason: Nsekhe has participated to some degree in all offseason activities to date. He missed some time due to an undisclosed injury, but the team did not seem concerned overall. During the first week of OTAs, he was the first-team right tackle.2019 Season outlook: Nsekhe is going to be either one of two things for the Bills. He’ll either fit as one of the team’s five starting offensive linemen, plugging in at tackle or guard Womens LeSean McCoy Jersey , or he’ll be one of the team’s top game-day reserves along the line. He was used most often (and most effectively) at left tackle while in Washington, but Buffalo appeared to give the edge to incumbent left tackle Dion Dawkins in the early portion of camp. With second-round draft choice Cody Ford in the fold, it’s hard to see Nsekhe unseating either player. His contract is that of a starter, but that can be said for quite a few of Buffalo’s offensive lineman. With only five starting spots to give, it just means that the team will have something it hasn’t had in a long time—high-quality reserves. Expect Nsekhe to push for a starting job all throughout the summertime. Jones shook off a bad rookie season and a rocky offseason to show glimpses of his potential in 2018."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections NewsNotesOpinionAnalysisDiscussionPodcastNFL DraftSalary CapOpinionNotesCan Zay Jones build upon successes heading into 2019?New,44commentsJones shook off a bad rookie season and a rocky offseason to show glimpses of his potential in 2018. ESTShareTweetShareShareCan Zay Jones build upon successes heading into 2019?The Buffalo Bills boasted a sub-par wide receiver corps for much of the 2018 season, with two notable exceptions. One was the breakout effort put forth by undrafted rookie free agent Robert Foster, who exploded onto the scene with three consecutive 100-yard games and finished with 541 yards on 27 catches (an average of 20.04 yards per catch) with three touchdowns. The other solid performance at wide receiver came from Zay Jones, Buffalo’s second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of East Carolina University. After enduring a roller-coaster rookie season where he caught only 27 of 74 targets for 316 yards and two touchdowns, Jones rebounded big-time in 2018. Jones appeared in all 16 games (15 starts), catching 56 passes (on 102 targets) for a team-best 652 yards. Jones established himself as a credible red-zone threat, scoring seven touchdowns, 16th-best among all wide receivers in the league. Jones had as many touchdown catches (seven) as JuJu Smith-Schuster, and more than Keenan Allen, Odell Beckham Jr., Julian Edelman, T.Y. Hilton, and Brandin Cooks. He averaged 11.6 yards per reception, down a tick from his rookie season (11.7 yards/grab) http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-tremaine-edmunds-jersey , but that was the only statistic worse from a year ago. What’s even more surprising than Jones’s productivity in 2018 is that he did it following a tumultuous offseason featuring a bizarre incident where he was eventually arrested after a naked, bloody argument with his brother in Los Angeles on March 19.Jones put the distraction of that incident behind him, dedicated himself to the football field, and developed a solid rapport with quarterback Josh Allen. Sure, the drops were still an issue over the final four games, including a huge drop in a 21-17 road loss to the Miami Dolphins, but Jones displayed enough talent and skill to make Bills fans think he could be poised for a breakout 2019 campaign. The resurgence started in Week 10, when Jones hauled in eight passes for 93 yards and a touchdown in a 41-10 win over the New York Jets. That started a stretch where Jones scored six touchdowns over Buffalo’s final seven games, including a pair of multi-touchdown outings: Week 13’s loss to the Dolphins, and a six-catch, 93-yard effort in a Week 17 win over the Dolphins. The Bills drafted Jones after a stellar career at East Carolina, where he caught an NCAA Division I record 399 passes for 4,279 yards and five touchdowns. Bills fans saw glimpses of the Allen-to-Jones connection in 2018, and the more work these two put in this offseason, the more likely it is Jones continues his development into a solid slot receiver. While it appears that Jones will never be a true No. 1 receiver, Bills fans will be happy if Jones takes another leap forward in 2019 as a valuable possession receiver who makes clutch grabs out of the slot and keeps the chains moving.
